I've said nothing wad wrong with the tackle as it was a 50/50. But pretty poor from Bravo to get into that situation, and then needed an ugly tackle with Rooney. He only just got away with it. All teams will pressure him from now on.

I think that that's a fair assessment of the situation. Yes he made a mistake, but he's entitled to have a go at winning it back, which he did fairly in my opinion. It could have been given as a pen, but Mourinho is 100% wrong if he thinks that it is a blatant penalty.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the refs performance, City deserved the win - yes, I would say that, but I thought it was pretty clear.

On the penalties, the Otamendi handball one is ridiculous to even discuss. Bravo got the ball, and his foot wasn't raised when he did so - not sure what else he could do other than say 'yes that was a poor touch and I should allow you to score as punishment'. It could have been given, but would have been harsh IMO.

The one no one is talking about (surprise surprise) is Bailly on Otamendi where there was no contact with the ball and it was a tackle from behind in the box. Again though, I say no pen as it was late and the ball had already gone wide (which you could say makes it worse lol, but City won so I don't really care).

So I make it two 50/50 calls (one each evens it out) and one not in a million years.

This is not specifically about Bravo, but I've noticed with a few tackles by goalkeepers that they get away with cleaning the player out as long as they get the ball first. Where as anywhere else on the field this is a free kick

Its a far bigger decision for the ref to make - if he calls it, has to be red card and pen.

Not necessarily a red card now with the new rules. Depends if the ref feels it's violent conduct.

Yes, I only heard that yesterday. Thats good news as a red and a pen for a genuine mistimed tackle was far too big a punishment.

The majority of pundits seemed to think the Bravo incident was a penalty, and a few think the Otamendi one was too.

I'd agree with the former, but not the latter.

I saw the Otamendi one. That was a definite penalty...

Bailly cleaned him out from behind... and then Fellani has a go at him...

You can see it here from 9:14.

That is the question I asked,No penalty given so best move on as it is not going to change anything.
if we only talked about things we could change, the sports forum would be a very quiet place.

jog back to the Arsenal thread before you get banned again.

That's what you said last season, but I remember a wonder goal from Lingard that says different...
