I think we can lay off Pogba a bit when you see the money other clubs are already spending on good, not great, players this transfer window.

I do but ... it is not as crazy as the fee United could end up paying for Lukaku or did pay for Pogba and Lindelof.

And, in real terms, is not much different to what you paid for Ferdinand

Not good comparisons. There is no need to compare him to Utd signings. Pogba was bought from one of the worlds best teams, to do that you are going to pay a lot. Closest comparison might be Ferdinand as he was a world record for a defender, but...

Ferdinand played for Utd for 12 (at a guess) seasons and it was clear to see he would be one of the worlds best. It was really Leeds who took a risk on him, seeing if he could make a step up, not Utd.

VVD might turn out to be a really good signing, but he’s only played 64 times in the PL - he’s not going to be one of the worlds best CBs, so the comparison with Ferdinand is not appropriate, indeed I don’t see anyone this transfer can be compared to (that doesn’t mean it’s bad).

Don't see how VvD and Lindelof aren't fair comparisons or how so matter of factly you can write off VvD based on how many PL games he has played especially since in those games he proved to be one of the best CBs in the league.

So VvD is twice the player Lindelof is?

If he's one of the best CBs in the league there must be a dirge of talent in that position at the moment.

Yes yes, Owen Hargreaves did just say Lukaku would be in good hands with the Manchester United medical staff.

The same staff that he claimed ruined his career.

edit: Lukaku looked rough. Not sure he'll be fit for Everton. Quite like the idea of Rashford and Jessie though.

Yes I prefer these two, could have had a good goal but for a dismal cross by Mkhitaryan.

We are poor, the ref is poor, Mourinho is poor.

Mourinho makes me laugh saying we need more than Ł300m worth of players. Well I agree, but the so called players we have cost multi millions, & Mourinho should do much better with them, than he has done.

I think we've got decent players, but we look like a team low on confidence and I don't know how you change that without a kick up the bum that a new signing brings.

We are underachieving, but we have been since Fergie left. And when he left us, we were overachieving. I'm not sure what an 'achieving' Man Utd team looks like!!

This game is crying out for Martial. And probably Herrera. And David Beckham, if he's in town.

What's George Best up to these days?

edit: It is wretched to watch. I see more of some of our players during the half-time commercials than I do during the match. There is a rot at the core of our club, I've no idea how it can be fixed. That 11 should be doing better than they are.

We are missing Pogba. Now we are third. I told you this was coming at the beginning of the season.

A few quotes from during the game.

Quote:
Nice to see Pogba walking around like he's at the park

It's as bad as Moyes era.

Pogba has been absent this half.

Another home game, another succession of corners and another succession of fails. This is becoming all to normal for my liking and it needs addressing sooner rather than later.

Funny how so many players only look ***** when they play for us. If only there was a common denominator.

Really poor game from Pogba.

Well, ironically, the answer lies in this very post...overachieved with Fergie, underachieved with every other manager since. We need a good manager that fits with United, that has the full backing of the board and who would not be afraid to cut away the dead wood (...no matter how much they ******' cost). Maureen has shown he's not good enough and cannot control the egos in the changing room...that disastrous stint at Chelsea has damaged him it seems!
