and yet he won 5 league titles and 2 Champions League titles.

Wiki page says 261 and 42, doesn't it? Not a lot better.

Looks like MaxNutters figures include cup games. Fantastic career in terms of trophies. If it wasnt for injuries, I think he would have been a fantastic player for Utd. His bitterness seems to have lessened recently towards us.

No posts about the Tottenham game?

poor result, but not surprising as everyone is dreaming of Stockholm.

I watched about 25 mins. If the manager isint going to be arsed, then im not going to be either.

We have had injuries, but he sent Pereira and Januzai on loan and sold Depay, Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger. That's 5 extra players he could have had. He's not necessarily wrong to pay lip service to the league, but a hell of a lot depends on the EL now, and he will deserve a great deal of criticism if we don't win as there is no doubt we should be at least top 4.

Having said that, im not going to celebrate any position in the league except first.

I hope it pays off for him, personally I'd have thought a late season charge would have been his best chance at a CL spot, rather than trying to beat Ajax in a knockout game.

Does he have the same "failure to qualify" clause in his contract?

it's a huge gamble, although to be fair, I think top 4, with our run-in, was always going to be tough (after all the ****** draws at home).

I can't see us getting rid of Jose. Players and managers need a little time. His signings have been good and we are progressing, but if he plays 6 at the back and we finish lower than 4th next year he will be gone.

Some damning stats out on the BBC in an article about Sunderland regarding our 'mobility' this season.....second bottom in team average distance covered. Is it fitness, player age or Mourinho's tactics?

I've said it before on here, but it's Romero not worth a run at it as first team keeper next year. I can't remember him ever doing much wrong.

I agree. I thought he was being rested for the final?

I'm sure he'll give DDG a game next, but the writing does seem to be on the wall doesn't it?

I don't really like the 'end of season friendly' feel that this game, and the Spurs game, have. I always felt that momentum is everything going into a cup final. 1999 and all that.

I understand they want to preserve themselves and not get injured, but I always want a United team to try and win every game, no matter who it is against. Moaning about tiredness doesn't cut it at the very top level, because you're playing twice a week all season if you're succesful.

If I were a fan of either club at St Mary's tonight I'd demand my money back. We are so lacking in dynamism that I really hope we can raise it for the final.....

Really awful stuff. I think the Europa League Final is a convenient figleaf in some ways.

Who cares? I didnt watch this rubbish, and I pity anyone who did. Jose threw the league against Arsenal - ever since I don't care, much like the manager.

Intetesting team. Rooney's last match for us? At least his last match at OT (I hope). He has deserved the criticism he has received in the last couple of years, as he's held back the team. However, fantastic player for a decade and he's given us so many good memories.

Would love for a couple of the kids grasp the opportunity, and hope to see them more next year.

If we win the Europa league, then there will be bragging rights, but in reality no matter what the result, sixth is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. With the money that bunch of no hopers in man United shirts cost, we should have been top two or in a bad season perhaps three. Had this result been at Real or Barca, Mourinho would have had his marching orders a few months back.
