United were on the verge of going out of the Mickey Mouse Cup (aka Europa League) so do not say you did not have any doubt. Had they gone out they would have been a laughing stock.

I got the impression that United were on top most of the match, and the commentators were saying "when United score, not if", so I was confident.

It's not like the Danes had a Messi in their side.

Oh, and "on the verge of going out" would have been behind in the tie with 10 minutes to go, not 3/4 of the match. As for laughing stock, maybe, but look at the team, ravaged by injuries. We gave it a go, unlike some other sides this week.

Nahh.

What do you reckon, are we going to get Valencia in the next round?

What's the score regarding teams that can be drawn now? Is it just fair game or are there teams that still can't be drawn against each other?

I enjoyed last nights game more than any in ages, not because of the 5-1 but because of the style and attitude of the team.

I've no idea what to think about LVG anymore. He's failing in almost every area, but then you read things like this, from the BBC, and you think: maybe they've got a point.;

Quote:
Analysis - Focus on youth

BBC Sport's Simon Stone at Old Trafford

At a time when debate is raging over the likely arrival of Jose Mourinho, who had no track record of picking the kids at Chelsea, a text to my mobile from someone loosely connected with United summed up the irony of what was unfolding: "The importance of giving youth a chance, hey..."

On the pitch at various points this evening were Guillermo Varela (aged 22), Regan Poole (17), Joe Riley (19), Andreas Periera (20) and Jesse Lingard (23). On the bench were Donald Love (21) and Joel Pereira (19). Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (19) was sitting in the stand injured.

That is without mentioning two-goal Marcus Rashford (18).

These are all home-grown players. All, with the exception of Lingard, were given their debuts by Van Gaal.

His choice was not extensive, but when Martial was forced to pull out of the game after tweaking his hamstring in the warm-up, Van Gaal had no hesitation in turning to an 18-year-old.

Trusting youth in such a manner is exactly what the traditions of the club are supposed to be about. Watching from the stands, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward would have known this.

The walls of the suites within the stadium are littered with faces of the Busby Babes, of George Best, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and the rest.

If there is a reason why Van Gaal has lasted through such a traumatic campaign, and now seems likely to reach the season's end, this could well be it.

And before Mourinho comes in, it needs to be carefully considered what could be being thrown away.
edit to add this:

it's an excellent point; Mourinho hasn't got a stellar record when it comes to academy players. Having said that, if he was here right now, what other choice would he have?

What was you expecting more?

Man Utd are no longer the big team you think they are.

Depend what team he plays.; The free flowing attacking United team that can score at will, or the other one that cost Ł250m

Makes the Europa League a bit more exciting, and I'd fancy us against them with a full OT behind the team. Not so much at Anfield though,
