Are there any standalone media players that do ALL of this?

Are there any standalone media players that do ALL of this?

iPlayer
ITV Player
Demand 5
4oD
NowTV AND/OR Sky Go
Plex
Netflix
Amazon Instant Video

Bonus points for Google Play Music etc

The closest I know of is the Roku that does all of them apart from Amazon Instant Video and Sky Go.

I think the Xbox One does all (or most) of them but it's not exactly a little silent media player. Maybe a NUC running Windows?

My Samsung TV has all of those services, with the exception of Google Play. edit: Actually it doesn't look like it has Sky either.

edit: Actually, the Xbox One doesn't have ITV

Give or take at one point I have used most of those on XBMC (now Kodi) so id have thought any device running that would do you fine, just find the correct addons

A pi2 has to be the cost effective choice at the moment

id imagine a bit of googling would find an addon for each of those

Sky Go is unlikely to work on the Pi as it needs Silverlight

I don't think Netflix or Amazon Instant work on it either, at least they didn't last time I looked into it.

Netflix certainly works, or at least it did on occasion that I had to try it, mind that was some time ago, so may have been locked out

There is also a SkyGo Addon, not had cause to try it, but certainly out there

You may just need to install windows onto the PI first and then run Kodi from that
So may, at best, have to wait a few weeks for windows 10

I have a feeling Windows 10 for the Pi probably won't include Silverlight as it's more for embedded systems

Netflix used to work but I think now that they have some sort of encryption that stops Kodi.

What I seem to need is an Xbox in a media streamer sized box with all the gaming stuff chucked out! MICROSOFT - build it!

You can get those Intel Atom based PC stick things that plug in your HDMI socket, if you put Windows and some sort of Media Player front end on it I think it would probably do everything you need. It's not quite a straight out the box solution but it should be do-able.

I'm doing similar with a Celeron NUC but running OpenELEC so no Netflix, etc. but you can do similar using Windows.

Doesnt the PS3 do them all ?

ITV player seems to be the only one in the list that does not have a specific app (it seems there was one which is now gone) but it will still play with the browser ?

Not aware that the PS3 has Sky go, would be happy if it did.

You can order the Google Nexus Player now. Not sure exactly what apps it has but I'd imagine it would be be fairly well supported?

I forgot how terrible the PS3 is in terms of interface - just spent ages installing apps but its soooo slow compared to even the Roku stick. AND I get no sound on Sky Go.

Back to the drawing board.

An android TV box will do all of those, including Google Music / Movies etc....

I have one of these :

http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/NEO...ndroid-TV.html

I use it in conjunction with one of these remotes :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Key.../dp/B009YPQ7PO

I got my dad a cheaper china android TV box (about Ł30) and his does the job for him. So, you can go cheaper e.g. :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Generic-1080...s=android+CS19

The above also works with the above flymouse.

I would advise to avoid KitKat if iplayer is important - BBC IPlayer is a no go on that firmware - LOTS of bugs :

http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.u...-kitkat-frozen

I run the following :

LG Smart TV + NowTV Box + Android box

But I could just use the Android Box alone.

My wife HATES not knowing how any of it works.

Can you confirm Sky Go (or at a stretch Now TV) and Amazon Instant Video works on that?

I'll install them on mine tonight and see.

The apps are available on play store, so I see no reason why they would not work :

Sky allegedly stop them working on devices with HDMI out. Seems crazy as it's a good alternative to multiple Sky boxes and they're still getting their money.

I've got Sky Go installed on my Hudl 2 (which has micro-HDMI out). Can't say I can confirm it all works as I've already changed a device this month (so can't add the tablet yet) but the app installed ok and I can at least attempt to log-in.

Am planning on adding it as a device and hooking up to my TV via HDMI as soon as they let me.
