I've played (and enjoyed) Scotland Yard, my friend's have it. Played that before LFW actually! Good shout though (no iPad though, sadly).

It's a universal app actually, if that helps.

I'm very wary about basing game opinions on digital versions. I made that mistake with ticket to ride, which I really didn't think much of on my phone, but loved playing with family and friends

The general what you've been playing discussion thread

I found that with the Ticket To Ride app at first too, but I think it makes a big difference playing with real opponents. It's been good fun playing with the guys on here. (And now having played the real thing helps too.)

I played my first game of Sheriff of Nottingham with my wife and children last night and it was great fun. My wife, who has struggled with being dishonest in games like The Resistance and Coup, found it a lot easier to mislead us in this and whopped us with a load of contraband slipping through.

I strongly recommend the iPhone app for it. The timer helps keep the sheriff from taking too long deciding what to do, adding some urgency and tension to the proceedings. The background noises and character comments help with the atmosphere and can be quite funny too. Also, whilst it isn't difficult, I can imagine scoring the game manually would be a pain.

My wife and I also had a quick game of Fidelitas this morning. It was our first game of that too but it looks like it is going to prove to be another great little filler game to go alongside the likes of Love Letter, No Thanks, For Sale, etc.

Just ordered Sheriff of Nottingham on Steve's recommendation - hadn't heard of it, but sounds right up my street! Thanks!

We played Love Letter yesterday. Fitting for Valentine's Day I think. It was just the two of us and although the game works better with more players we had a good one, which went right to the last hand.

Have you tried either of the Lost Legacy games too?

Maybe. If you like Love Letter, for the price you should maybe check one of them out. They are the same size games, take about as long to play, but offer a little more depth and you can combine two decks to up the maximum player count.

Have any of you got lords of waterdeep? I really want something that'll pay well with 2 player, something that isn't too luck based as well. If San Juan ever arrives in the UK at a reasonable price I'll buy that straight away.

I've got lords of waterdeep. If you can get people past the theme it's brilliant. Simple to teach, enough decisions to keep you on your toes and very rewarding when it all comes together.

I still haven't gotten around to playing the copy of Castles of Burgundy I received for Christmas so can't speak from experience, but I hear it absolutely shines as a two player game. When it's just the two of us, my wife and I quite enjoy Splendor though.

I was told by the guys at boardgameguru that the new San Juan reprint will hopefully hit the UK in two or three weeks time. Fingers crossed.

Looks interesting! Always looking for 2-player gamers that my girlfriend and I can play. We love Love Letter but it's pretty hit + miss as a 2-player game.

We've been playing a good few games of Kingdom Builder though. Haven't tried the expansions yet, but have been really pleased with that purchase. Was a little bit intimidating at first but it's real simple once you get going with it (like most games really!) - and I like the fact that the shuffled mission cards mean the aim of the game is different every time.

Cheers boys and will keep an eye out for San Juan in a few weeks. Yeah I'm not sure castles of burgundy will drop with the people I have at my disposal. Lords of waterdeep does look geeky and I guess that is something I'll have to try and win people over with. I think I'll watch table tops episode with it.
I've spent a while reading through BBG's forums and I guess like all things in life, there is no one winner, everyone has different tastes in games.

I introduced two new friends to ticket to ride and carcassonne last Friday and they both loved them.

Read a review of Castles Of Burgundy. ANOTHER to add to the Wishlist

Lost Legacy looked a bit too similar to Love Letter for me. Also, the review I saw showed it as a double-pack, but looks like they sell it as 2 separate packs now, for more money.

I've played a few hands of Cypher, which may appeal to those who like LL too, especially if you like a sci-fi / cyberpunk theme.

Has anyone played Lost Cities and/or Android:Netrunner? Lots of good reviews for netrunner. And what about Citadels? Does it play well with 2?

AND what about Stone Age? Hearing good things as a game that'll transition to something slightly more medium weight.

So many games. So much money. Nobody to play with.
