My copy of Azul (Stained Glass of Sintra) arrived today and although we haven't played it yet the component quality was a bit of a let down compared to the original.

Also in the box was Pandemic 10th Anniversary edition. I was in two minds about getting this due to the cost but now it's arrived I'm glad I did. It's really nice and I love the board design, just a shame the painted figures were a pre order only.

I’ve just received the original Azul and can’t wait to break it out over the weekend.

I’ve got a couple of cracking new games over Christmas: Azul and Downforce.

My youngest keeps asking to play Azul, probably played 15 games over the last week. He’s beating me overall I think

Strike has been on our table more than anything this Christmas. Cracking game and the younger 4+ members have been joining in fine (and winning!)

Forgot to mention Red7 also. Similar to Uno but more so, super little card game.

Cheers. Very happy indeed with it. That's probably my luck done for the year.

I felt like I was ripping them off a bit but it was for a local hospice that I donate to every month and all my stuff to donate goes to them.

I got it for Xmas, it's the only game the Mrs has gone out of her way to ask to play. We both love it. Last night, I came downstairs from reading to our son to find the board all set up ready to play.

I haven't played the physical game of TTR, but I do have the app.
I feel it plays better, as it is a little more involved.
Rather than just having to get the correct number of colours to lay a track, there are a few more types of track:
1. Tunnels (you turn over the top three cards from draw pile, and if any are the same colour as the track you are building you have to lay additional cards to match).
2. Ferrys (you must use at least one wild/locomotive card to build a ferry route).
3. Stations. (You can build stations that allow you to use part of another player's track).
4. Long routes. (as well as choosing from 3 normal routes, each player also gets 1 of 6 20/21 points routes at the start of the game).

I saw New York assuming it's a small box portable/short play version

It is a streamlined version. Lasts 20-30 mins, instead of 60+ mins.
Its been reviewed well, and plays slightly differently to the larger games. Based on taxi routes rather than trains.
It's apparently more of a race, as the board is smaller, you only get 15 cars, and they've included attractions that you get bonus points for.

Being only 20-30mins a game also means my youngest will probably grasp the game better.

I've not really been playing board games long.
Back in the day, I used to play (25+ years ago) Hero Quest, Blood Bowl, Space Marine, Escape From Atlantis and Lost Valley of The Dinosaurs.
A little later I played Robo Rally when it first came out.

We then got Labrynth for my eldest a few years ago, along with Batman Fluxx, King of Tokyo, Batman Love Letter, Hexbug, Exploding Kittens (and expansion), and the new edition of Danger: Escape From Atlantis.

In the last year we've got Camel Up (and expansion), Hey! That's My Fish, Robo Rally, and Skull.

We play them all on and off. Youngest loves Robo Rally (usually only one board with 2 check points).

For Christmas, as I didn't really know what I wanted I just suggested Ticket To Ride: Europe, Munchkin and Carcassonne.
Not played Munchkin yet, and will try Carcassonne at the weekend (although I do play the app quite a bit - very addictive and quick to play).

Must say we also play some form of Monopoly every so often too. I really don't understand when people say it takes forever to play. As long as you play by the proper rules, it's usually over in less than 90mins. None of this "money in the middle/Free Parking" business. Also make sure any property that isn't purchased when landed on goes up for auction straight away.
