I would have thought there was much more to Wayne than that. His little mind tricks on the congressman and then Nora were both on characters who looked like they needed more than a good talking-to to sort out their issues.

The Leftovers - New Damon Lindelof / HBO Sci-fi

This show continues to frustrate me. Last week's character-centric episode with Nora was fantastic like the previous episode that concentrated on her brother but this week we're back to another mixed bag of seemingly random scenes that remains watchable but ultimately unfulfilling. One thing that does remain constant is the show's score. That piano piece that kicks in every week is very effective, along with the violin track that accompanies the opening credits.

I'm beginning to think it's just bad writing, where one character can't express himself in simple everyday language, just for the sake of dragging out the mystery. Very frustrating. That said... I'll stick it out a while longer.

I do enjoy this but it does just seem like a succession of enigmas that won't ever be explained. For instance the white people will never be explained because no explanation would make sense.

It's interesting, because I just don't really care about the "mystery". Life is full of mystery, people or events you don't understand. You just accept that and deal with stuff as it comes.
I kind of feel like Damon Lindeloff has had a good hard think about what was good about Lost and what wasn't, and is basically re-making Lost, having taken all those considerations on board.
I'm not saying he's entirely successful, the latest episode was poor, but the good episodes are *really* good.

I really liked this week's episode and think it flowed really well. Is Kevin Garvey the angriest man on tv ever? I'm pleased it's renewed!

I think Crixus, Malcolm Tucker or Ari Gold takes that title.

Thought that was superb, this series is getting really good, I'm seriously starting to love it. What the **** will happen now?!! Notice how on tv there were news reports of "miraculous resurrection", I hope that's just a fake-out and not a clue as to where this is heading (there are way too many people-returning-from-the-dead-and-or-zombie shows already we don't need that here too).
Dog killer guy has the same affliction as Kevin's Dad, right?
This is now so far removed from the source material that it's genuinely quite thrilling and I'm loving the mental-state stuff.

I doubt the writers know. It is entertaining though.

It looks like the GR

That'll go down well.

Just watched the trailer for this and it makes Falling Skies look like top quality entertainment. Not one aspect of it sold the show to me.

This series is way better than Falling Skies, probably one of the best things on TV at the moment.

Everything I've read about it seems to say the characters suck, they don't like the story, can't understand it, unplausible bits etc yet "I'm going to watch it all".

I gave up on it after a couple of eps. Nothing there to keep me entertained enough (seems to be too much good TV around at the moment).

I'm starting to lose interest in it: a la Lost, they're just inserting more and more ambiguous and obtuse ***** into the storylines without first explaining anything away - rather than creating genuine mystery it only serves to obscure everything to the point where it starts travelling up its own posterior.

The consistency of quality of the eps IMO is way too patchy also. You have the amazingly superb ones such as the one centred around the Rev. and ones from the last couple of weeks which although they have some interesting plot-points (
) the cumulation of weirdness and fantasy of everything is just grating on me now...
