There's been discussion on this in the New US Shows thread but no-one's bothered to start an individual thread until now.

I think it's off to a decent start, likeable enough main character played well, which along with the laidback feel & the rural setting helps gloss over the standard procedural cop show storylines.

Like this a lot. The rather shambling old wreck of a sheriff Longmire is a sort of lawman antithesis to Justified's almost narcissistic Marshall Raylan Givens.

In fairness, aside from the fact the two leads both wear hats, have to work cases dealing with an insular group of natives (literally in Longmire's case) & are part of a form of law enforcement that operates alongside other forms, there's no similarity at all. Longmire's not even set in the south!

Still enjoying this, third episode had the best story (taken directly from one of the novels I believe) but it tried to fit too much plot into the 40+ minutes & ultimately felt rushed IMO.

The flashbacks are intriguing and it will be good to see how it all comes together. This is my first one to watch at present.

Another good one this week. "I want Tommy Lee Jones to play me in the movie"

Peter Weller's really found his niche playing grizzled characters on tv. (loved him in Dexter too)

Did I miss it before, or is that the first time Starbuck has mentioned she's married?

Another very good episode this week wraps up what has been a surprisingly impressive first season. The story-of-the-weeks have been above-average for your typical US cop show, good characterisation throughout & the main plotline (flashbacks to what Walt did in the past in Denver) has been intriguing & things got very interesting with the revelations this week.

Very much looking forward to Season-two.

So this is a 10 episode season? (I'm afraid to double check listings sites due to spoilers!)
