They also have the Nexus 7 in my local store, which is handy as I want to compare both before deciding which to get.

Good call - I have tried both and prefer the Nexus as I prefer the standard Android that it uses, but the Kindle is a fantastic media device.

My local Tesco sells both the Nexus 7 and the FireHD, but for some reason only has the Galaxy Tab 2 out for you to play with.

Thanks Colin, I'm undecided whether to go for a Kindle Fire or the Google Nexus but the code will help with either.

It's only £10 more on Amazon itself at the moment for some reason... If you're feeling lazy.

After using amazons app store I'd stick with nexus. It's emptier than an x factor contestant's brain.

They only support HTC and Samsung devices, and then only a small subset and then only on pre-ICS. Muppets.

*edit* apparently they've got it working on the SGS3 with ICS, just in time for the JB release which then stops it working again. Double muppets.

And still no HOX support.

I've got an iPad2 but am looking for a more portable media device for on the go. Have no idea whether to go for the Nexus or Fire HD. the vouchers helps with the cost but not the decision!

I guess it depends. I see the kindle as more tied into amazon than the nexus is to Google. But maybe I'm biased

We got the Kindle Fire HD, my wife likes that it is tied to Amazon. Seems a pretty robust little device and she's well happy with it.

I got the Kindle Fire HD as well and find it ideal. I also like it being tied to Amazon which is convenient. I wasn't keen on Nexus 4 because my experince in dealing with Google over user names and passwords has not been good.

Having unlimited cloud storage is a good bonus for the FireHD, and if you've ever bought digital purchases from them in the past like MP3s it's all there and available for you.

Doesn't it cost £22 per year for extra cloud storage for mp3's? Only 250 tracks are stored for free.

There is no limit on mp3s bought from Amazon. The 250 is for ones from elsewhere

It's part of the reason I went for a mini, so I expect a Nexus/Kindle release some time this week.
