I've seen Total Recall a load on ITV1/2 etc over the years and it has never been that rumoured uncut version.

In fact I seem to recall bits of it being trimmed if anything, this is ITV after all, why would they bother having different versions for different channels, the same cut that airs on ITV 1 will be the same that is repeated on ITV 2 all the time.

If it had of aired someone would of blown their load at the excitement surely

I think your mistaken about them showing it

Because they do show alternate versions/prints on the very same channel or other channels, examples being...

1.Satan's Slave on BBC2 showed a bit more than what is on the current DVD version but was still cut.

2.Satanic Rites of Dracula...When shown on CH4 it was shown with the breast staking intact in fullscreen but when it was shown on BBC1 in widescreen that scene was cut.

3.The 1941 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde with Spencer Tracy was shown on BBC2 in an longer alternate version than then any dvd/video.

So that is why it is possible that one channel can screen a different version to the other.

As I have said many times now

Many people store films on their hard drives off TV - for months, years even. Even if they own them, which the majority of people will not own them, tahts why they watch TV!

If in doubt email ITV2 and ask them to back you up, I have done that in the past with a TV channel and they told me exactly what they showed.

But if it was true, you would have recorded it yourself surley!?
If I saw it and had no recorer plugged in even, I would grab a phone or camera even and take footage of it, thats how big this TV event would have been and I would want proof I saw what I did.

It does have something to do with it,it means you could have missed the alternate version that was screened.

Are you saying it was a secret or something? It was a selling point. It was in the Radio Times, I can't stress that enough, it seems. I bought a ******* blank tape especially for it.

As for the nonsense about Total Recall, all it would take was one person to notice something was afoot, and stick over to ITV2 +1 and wait for it to start with a shiny hard drive. And it would be all over the net.

I mean, think about it for more than a few seconds. Someone at ITV has their hands on a lost version of a movie that people would give their left nut to have a look at. What have they done with it? Email them and ask.

You keep saying TV companies show different versions of things as though that proves anything. Why? That's not in dispute.

I'l tell you how it happened. It happened to me when I watched it on Channel 5 once - I thought it was uncut. It wasnt, but the only time i've seen it in the last 15 years has been on TV and they're using the tamer version. Hence, when someone shows the 'R' rated version, it looks more violent.

What I am saying is the showing of Sea of Love on BBC1 was just that...a showing of the film just like any other film they would show but this one was not detailed in Radio or TV Times as a special alternate version showing

What the BBC showed, was a version that is not available AT ALL on any format.

Show me the listing in the Radio Times then if you say it was a selling point ?

it's a bit like when people realized that Sky Movies were showing the pre-cut Cannes version of Southland Tales

Show me the listing - yeah, i'll just dig around for that television listing magazine ive had since 1992. It was detailed, as I went out and bought a tape especially for it. I am aware its not available in any format, which is why I wanted to tape it. So what, anyway, it doesnt amount to a hill o beans.

Total Recall has not, ever been shown on ITV2 in its full, uncut version. The fact that Satan's Slave on BBC2 was shown in a longer version does not make it so.

It's true though, different versions of movies do appear on tv unxepectedly now and again. Always remember a BBC2 showing of The Warriors with a Coney Island prologue that i've never seen before or since.

That is undoubtedly true, but I know when I'm beat... The TV version of The Warriors has a lot of additional little bits. I remember the excitement of seeing the long version of The Shining thanks to ITV.

The above is a forum discussion about the (un)cut status and availability thereof, of Total Recall. There shouldn't be any pop-ups.

Maybe you could explain the content of that link so people don't get the nasty pop ups and adverts with pornographic pictures.
