It would have made more sense to do a boxset of the first 20 films, i.e. up to Die Another Day. This constituted a distinct timeline in the Bond universe. The franchise was rebooted with Casino Royale, so the Daniel Craig films shouldn't really be considered as a continuation from DAD.

They did. When the Ultimate Edition DVDs came out, there were Connery, Brosnan & Moore collection sets.

Must confess I didn't pay much attention to the UEs, as I knew there would be blu-rays at some point.

But then you could argue up to Licence to Kill was a distinct 'timeline'. Actually I don't think 'timeline' is the right word. Continuity is often ignored in Bond. In 67 he meets Blofeld. In 69 (with different actors) they've never met before. This film series will be repackaged again and again with each new film until our (my) generation dies out and everyone watches HD films via the net on their superfast connections

Zavvi have it up for £99.95 and it says 'save £20.04', which makes the RRP £119.99.

If that's right it's still pretty cheap for 22 films. Rather pay £89.99 though, obviously.

I think the Amazon price is very good taking into account:

List price for the US set (on Amazon) is $299, about £194
The US Amazon price is $199, about £129
Other UK retailers are coming out at £120 RRP and about £99 discounted

Aye there's a fair bit of bleating going on in the N America section of the bluray forum over their higher price. Makes a change!

To be fair, our prices for BD boxsets have been better than the Yank versions for quite some time. That's why I'm not surprised at the delicious price for Bond, because it was the same for Superman, Harry Potter, Alien, Godfather, Band Of Brothers, BTTF etc.

Sure, stuff like Star Wars and LOTR:EE have started high and rarely dropped, but that sort of gouging was to be expected for such 'fan favourite' franchises.

Some details on extras here:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/55893

Had a feeling all the content from the 2 disc SE of CR wouldn't make it across.

It's not a deal breaker for me. If I'm desperate for those CR extras I'll buy the SE DVD for a couple of quid.

Could it be that CR & QoS were originally released by Sony and hence to port the extras over would require Fox/MGM to license them from Sony?

Nah, the simpler explanation is that they're being mega lazy and are simply putting in the original single-disc version of CR.

It'd be sweet if they put the uncut Euro disc of CR in there by mistake.

One thing I've just realised: the UK/Euro discs don't carry the original audio tracks, unlike the US versions. But can I really justify the huge wodge that the US set will cost? It'll have the PG-13 version of CR too, which is quite badly cut. Hmmmm.

I think the CR disc in the set will probably be the most unplayed BD in history

Wonder if there will be a slot for Skyrim... Skyline... or whatever it's called

Not really what I was saying at all. I'll be watching the Deluxe Edition instead, as I actually like CR [forks]
