Well as I always say it just goes to show you how much of a JOKE the Oscars are they are based on cash only, nothing more.

If you do not have the cash, you cannot Win (bribe) over the judges.

If you agree with me that Sam was outstanding in this film and deserves a nomination, please pop along to http://blog.manmademovies.co.uk/ and do what you can to support the cause

There's also a fun re-working of the film poster there which if I was more tech-literate I'd try to post on here.

Alex

Poor show by Sony.
Who are they backing for Best Actor nom(s)??

I lost whatever little regard I had for the Oscars when Tommy Lee Jones' OK performance in The Fugitive won him a completely undeserved supporting actor Oscar over Ralph Finnes' shatteringly brilliant turn as Kommandant Amon Goeth in Schindler's List. To my mind that is the worst Oscar injustice in the award's history.

Hi,

Thanks for the support on the Oscars front. Appears Sony Classics are backing their film An Education instead. Think they feel it's got a stronger chance of noms. Carey Muilligan a shoe in, and they're pressing for Michael Fassbender for actor. It costs a small fortune to send screeners out to all 6,000 voters, and sadly if they don't see the film, they won't vote for it. So Duncan's little campaign may be tilting at windmills, but you never know...

On the plus side, Moon just landed 7 BIFA nominations (British Independent Film Awards) and screeners are going out to BAFTA voters and I have high hopes for justice there

And even more on the plus side, just 2 weeks to go till the DVD and Blu Ray come out here, and the Blu Ray is currently at 9th place in the Amazon pre-order chart, which isn't too bad for an indie.

And more good news, if you know any Americans desperate for the film who can't wait till Dec 29th, the Blu Ray is region free.

How much did the UK box office take in the end? (I notice the IMDB info hasn't been updated since the beginning of August).

Dangermouse: As of last week Moon had done £1,286,242 at the UK box office. Don't know if there are any more prints doing the rounds, but that's probably close to the final tally. Which is way more than was expected.

In the US we're just $15,000 short of $5 Million and still playing just enough theatres to hopefully cross that landmark this weekend. If so might have to treat myself to a bottle of bubbly (if I can find any on sale, we still need the DVD to do really well to actually make any money )

Hi,

In case any fans of the film are interested, a bunch of Moon's props and costumes are being auctioned off. Think they're doing it in batches. At the moment there's about 10 items ranging from a Lunar Industries Mug, to one of the Lunar Rovers, to the original full sized Gerty.

Auction can be found here:

Happy bidding

And for those interested, this just in from Sony about the North American B.O.

Cume to date: $5,004,057

A nice milestone to hit for a small British indie film

Fingers, toes, you name it, are all crossed for the DVD release now

Best

And still a global box office tally rising with, according to the IMDB, 5 more markets still to open.
As they seem to be opening the film in South Korea at the end of the month, any word yet if it will make it to Japan's cinemas?

Japan release not confirmed but Duncan has "high hopes" it will be released there in the new year.

By the way, my moment of fame comes in the DVD/BR extra of the Sundance Q&A. You can see me standing behind Duncan looking gormless. Extras don't come any better than that

Will check out the extras on the BR tonight Huron, see if I can spot you! I saw the film twice in the cinema and on the third viewing it just keeps getting better, still picking up on little things here and there I missed before. Brilliant stuff.

Right, it's officially on sale. Very excited about it. How well the DVD does will determine whether our investors get their money back (and thus whether they'll be prepared to work with us again).

First week sales very important, especially in the supermarkets as hanging onto their chart positions very difficult. So while out buying your milk, bread and juice, feel free to throw a few DVDs in the trolley too

For anyone buying in shops rather than the Internet, I'd love to know how Moon is being displayed.
