150 people out of 10.4 Million. That's 0.001% of viewers complained. Don't they have an error margin in the complaints department? There are way more retarded people in the population than that for one and I'd also expect drunk people and crank calls to easily cover such a small number of complaints.

Isn't a complaints percentage of 10% of viewers far more reasonable? There's no need for anyone to waste air, internet capacity and calories on entertaining the backward meanderings of a humourless 0.001%.

Just watched this - not read the whole thread but I enjoyed it anyway Thought the radiation scene was very Spock dying in Star Trek II -esque though

Probably not the best idea to carry on a joke that nobody remembers from 5 years ago anyway, or wasn't even funny the first time.
You're spot on, there's no way any tv programme should ever reference events that happened in it's past. Just in case 0.001% of the audience are too dim to understand it.

Having previously watched no David Tennant Dr Who (so I don't have any comparisons to make), I watched the Xmas day episode (on the day) & the second episode last night. I thought it was ok & pretty enjoyable on the whole, but wanted to make special mention of Bernard Cribbins who I thought was excellent

Amusing, but I'm afraid your attempt at sarcasm has failed miserably. 150 complaints is a lot for any tv programme when it hasn't been orchestrated online, and clearly plenty of children watching would have been too young to have seen The Christmas Invasion 5 years ago.

Reference to a past episode aside, Im just amazed that people took it as an insult in the first place. After all he never said something like "Of thank **** Im not a carrot top", just "still not ginger".

Wonder if 150 women complained at the Doctor being horrified he could have been a girl instead of a man?

Good job the new companion is a woman and ginger otherwise every ginger woman in the country would be picketing Cardiff by now.

Or indeed why those born with less than the standard number of digits/limbs never moaned about how happy the Doctor was to have nothing missing?

Are we getting a new thread soon just for the 2010 series discussion?

This has always been it, but for some reason the reaction for the specials were also posted in here instead of getting there own thread.

Latest set reports site Honor Blackman filming with the Doctor.

In the new DWM the writers have been confirmed as:
Steven Moffat (6), Mark Gatiss (1), Gareth Roberts (1), Richard Curtis (1), Toby Whithouse (1), Chris Chibnall (2) and Simon Nye (1)

Think Matt is starting to look the part now too:

Simon Nye????

Big fan of Paul Cornell's Human Nature - a shame he's not back.

It was children that were upset, not adults...

All the article I read (from the link that was supplied in this thread) say "parents of red-headed children complained".

Perhaps the 'childrens' adults should have told them that he clearly was not saying it as relief he was not ginger, just that he still has not been.

As TheoGB has said the whole thing is just a silly situation of people complaining of something that they think has happened (i.e. The Doctor being glad he was not ginger).

Would have done better to complain about part1 being over hyped and a bit padded & dull really

This only recently said Series 5 didn't it? I thought the title was 'specials' before?

Anyone posted this yet?

Yes, the parents would have phoned in the complaints. As one would assume on behalf of their children.

How could they, unless you are expecting them to remember the joke from TCI in 2005. "Still not Ginger" could have any number of meanings, like "Thank god I'm still not Ginger". I wondered what he meant about it myself.

I couldn't care less though. Just at amused at all the people sticking up for a lame joke that clearly didn't come off well, and should have been dropped.

Pretty sure he feels his chin after regeneration and makes some comment like 'lots of chin'? Or maybe he just pauses after saying chin, somewhat significantly?

...and the children of Jimmy Hill have complain to the BBC as it was another reference and/or joke that some people did not get.

Not to Mr Moffat; please run all past references and jokes past thescrounger before transmission to see if they are good enough to keep in.

It always had Series 5/1 tagged in the line somewhere in the tittle, and there is quite a few bits about it scattered throughout this thread, but you will have to dig deep.
