Well in the next hour he has to resolve:

- 6 billion Masters
- Timothy Dalton and his Time Lords (who are probably evil)
- Wilf's mysterious secret
- Stopping Catherine Tate's mind from burning
- Tennant's regeneration
- The rumoured cameos from past characters.

I've probably missed some. Needless to say I'm not optimistic.

I'd forgotten about the "O-bar-ma" stuff. Seems a bit odd to shoehorn him in there when previous political figures have been disposable and fictional in equal measure.

I'd tried to ignore the wholly ham-fisted use of Obama in this episode, RTD has not abilty as a writer that i can discenr. The fact he gets the odd scene right proves it, because it's just a "throw enough mud at the wall" technique.

His attempts at building tension and drama are so unbelievably clumsy as to be almost satirical, but the quality of what he does is so poor he doesn't appear capable of satire.

the Americans found it weird as well

and what was with the Obama obsession? Are people in the U.K. really obsessed with our president? If Obama actually did give a speech about the economy on Christmas, I think about three people would watch it in the United States. Was this meant to be a sneaky message about how the awesome politicians you adore always turn out to be evil megalomaniacs, or something else? It was a bit jarring, in any case. Plus, since when are real-world politicians in charge in the Who universe? We saw the U.S. president die in "The Sound Of Drums" and it was some random guy. Plus, we've seen at least four fictional U.K. prime ministers, including Harold Saxon and the Slitheen acting P.M. But Obama is president now?

Don't we already know what this is? Isn't it obvious?

That's still a bit vague. And it could also be a red herring.

I don't know who she is, but I'll bet £100 that RTD doesn't have the deftness of touch to do anything remotely heartbreaking, unless she means it in a "Jesus wept" type context...

yeah and that was a badly executed rip of off Buffy's Angel leaving scene from end of season 2.

The most heartbreaking thing about it all is that RTD IS capable of some wonderful writing, and does have the ability to craft some exquisite stuff, but it just gets crushed under overbearing, noisy, clap-trap. There have been some really nice scenes over the last few years that RTD has written, but they tend to get lost.

the girl being silently exterminated by the dalek outside the glass in the first season finale, was one of the best scenes of the current run.

shame it's very much in a minority

Might just be me though.
This is an awesome idea!! But just like the whole "donna was the master" type stuff that people were guessing back then, the best ideas are coming from outside the BBC

The fact that Wilf and his grandaughter are the only "humans" that haven't been converted into a clone of The Master might be a clue to his past

Wilf was stuck in the shielded booth when the Master released his power on other people on the Earth, so that could be the simple explanation.

"And don't forget the running... lots of running". He obviously knew people were mentioning that there was too much episode running filler to actually include that sentence in an episode instead of reducing it with his apparent writing skills.

At the end of the episode RTD knocks 4 times on the screen and says "We were having you on, Moffat isn't really taking over, I'm staying lol!"
