I should have mentioned this, I thought I had, but in the US you can now buy these individually rather than having to buy the whole box-set, much fairer.

Does the box-set have any extras that are on a separate disc?

I believe the boxset contains the documentary Behind PoA which isn't being released seperately, but I'm not too sure.

Beav review the Region A boxset which has details on extras included in that.

No sign of individual releases for us here though

The documentary has always been available separately but only on dvd and only in the US

I'm pretty sure that it wont be in HD in this boxset

Surely most people that want more than just the first film will want the boxset .

The US set has a book that you wont get by buying individually

I just want the films, in a box that fits on the shelf. Therefore = UK release.

It is one of the best movie documentaries ever made though. As much as I love Burden Of Dreams or Heart of Darkness I still rate Behind as better

My problem is I've got the Original Non-Anamorphic US boxset, the 2 disc release of Behind, the 25th Anniversary R1 of POTA, the R1 TV Series, the R1 Animated Series and the cheapo UK boxset - can I justify the Bluray boxset too?

Do we have confirmation on whether the book is included in the UK release yet?

Course you can.
You're obviously a fan, this has better than ever pic quality - you know it makes sense

Rather worryingly the Apes Bluray set (and Day The Earth Stood Still Bluray) do not seem to appear anywhere on the UK Fox site anymore

Huzzah! My US set got through customs unmolested and cost me a grand total of £56.94. ******* brilliant. Can't wait to have some damned dirty apes goodness tonight!

To answer my own question, apparently not. At least not in HMV where they were they had a thin looking no book version of the box set for a hefty £85

Has anyone got the UK set yet?

Interested to know how it comes to the US release in terms of features and cuts of Conquest and Battle

My preorder has not been shipped from WHSmith - interestingly the box set availability on the site is 2-4 weeks, so not sure when mine will be shipped, though gives me the option to cancel if the set isn't up to scratch

Fox have a habit of dumping isolated scores so they might be missing from the UK set, but everything else will surely be on there.

It would seem Fox rip off the UK again.

No book -even other European releases have the book.

No extended cut of Battle - only a deleted scenes section - no seamless branching like the US disc.

Was looking at the bargain 85quid version in HMV and from the timings, it looks like the standard cuts of Conquest and Battle - although both have deleted scenes.

So, what alternative releases are there for us RB folk?

According to someone who has the set , Conquest offers a choice of either cut but Battle only has deleted scenes rather than the actual long version.

A multiregion Bluray player was always on the cards for me in addition to the PS3 so the US Apes set for £51.99 from PLAYUSA will be my inauguaral Region A purchase.

I plan to get the multiregion Panasonic from Multiregion Magic for a mere £269 in the New Year

You'd be better off getting it from Deep Discount.com, less chance of customs charges.
edit - Actually, ignore me! It's probably cheaper from playusa even with customs charges!

Yep, the playusa price including customs charges is the cheapest option right now. And if it does get though Mount Pleasant with no fees, then it's an absolute steal. I did get mine from Deep Discount in the end, but that was before sterling bottomed out .

As for possible bilingual packaging on the Canuck version, I forgot that custom stuff like this is too expensive to do dual runs for. It'll likely be the full English language version with just a few french stickers over it. Regardez: Amazon Canada

In short, if you've got a Region A player and you want this set then you'd be mad to look anywhere else than playusa.
