Starts Saturday with The Dam Busters.
All the films have looked great so far, with "Ice Cold In Alex" & "Dunkirk" in 16.9 anamorphic (the [now deleted] "Dunkirk" DVD was 4x3). I wonder if "Sea Of Sand" will be 16.9?

Is the Daily Mail edition of Hell in the Pacific anamorphic and in the correct aspect ratio (2.20:1 according to imdb)? According to Amazon, at least one of the UK DVD editions has been panned & scanned to 1.33:1. Thanks in advance.

I buy The Times on Saturday, but I still got the film as Smiths had sold out of The Mail. It's 4x3, but I'm not that bothered as I'm only interested in the 50's b/w titles. I'm hoping that "Sea Of Sand" will be 16.9. The DVD I bought a couple of years ago is 4x3, but it's 16.9 when channel four shows it, & it looks about right.

Hell, that volume one reminds me of summer holidays misspent in front of the television. Does anyone have this? The comments about the audio are a bit of a concern, but should we really be expecting anything different?

I've had vol. one for a while but haven't got round to looking at the films yet (I've seen 'em all so I know I like them). I'm going to buy vol. two at this price, some daft films there. I think I saw most of them at Saturday morning pictures.

The BBC used to always show them over Christmas when I was a nipper usually alongside the old Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers serials.

They even once showed the whole Tarzan series from Tarzan the Ape Man right through to Tarzan and the Jungle Boy in the Friday evening slot on BBC2.

Would love Tarzan's Greatest Adventure to get a dvd release. Probably one of, if not the, best Tarzan movie.

They keep dropping hints about the Gordon Scott and Lex Barker Tarzans, but no sign of either of them coming to DVD yet.

VCI have currently offering their DVDs with a 50% reduction in price. Go their website - www.vcient.com - and enter halfoff as the sales code. (Assuming of course that you want their DVDs.)

They do some great serials. The last one I bought from them is a very decent looking "Phantom Empire".

The Brando two-disc "Mutiny On The Bounty" is £2.99 at HMV. Warner released this on the same day as "Forbidden Planet", which is deleted, & now goes for quite a bit; you never know!

Fantastic value! I've had this set for a few years now. I've never bothered with "Make Mine Mink" but "Too Many Crooks" & "The Naked Truth" are two comedy gems from the late 50's, & just so funny.
