Wonderland: great BBC2 documentary

Excellent documentary about off beat subjects. I stumbled on this last week : The man who eats badgers and other stories from Bodmin Moor

Tonight it was all about Second Life and how much it can take over your real life

If anyone missed it I'd highly recommend it I think you can still catch these two episodes on the Iplayer:

I caught the episode about the couples who met in Second Life tonight, completely by accident - found it facinating though. The husband (those who saw will know who I'm talking about) seemed extremely tollerant of his wife's crazy addiction and subsequent trip to England. He clearly didn't like it, and yet he stuck by her even when it was clear that the marriage meant less to her than an online 'relationship'. Totally bizarre.

Also, I didn't realise quite what Second Life was like to play - a lot more detailed than I thought.

I accidently saw last week's and found it really interesting... not at all how a similar subject would be handled by other programmes.

I was also surprised by the husband's tolerance and, indeed, everyone's seeming detachment. In fact I suspect they were actually "playing themselves", re-creating events, rather than actually going thru them at the time.

The virtual world was also misleading - there was a credit for "Virtual Reconstructions" at the end.

Still, it was a fascinating programme. The people weren't anywhere near as sad as you'd expect them to be - and the American woman even seemed well balanced. Still, I was amazed that her avatar resembled a slavegirl from Conan! Though the guy's 2 Uzi's, sword, and unfeasible facial furniture had me in hysterics!

Anyone else notice the cool use of music from James Bond & Hitchcock movies (oh, and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!)?

in light of the recent BBC revelations I think they would have said if the scenes were 'reconstructions' of events but yes I see your point.

I missed what its going to be about next week though?
