What's that new Damon Albarn track?

Playing almost continuously on radio 1 and xfm, it's a duet with a female vocalist but I can't find any mention of it. It sounds very Gorillaz-ish. It a real grower. Feel free to close when answered.

And I've just found out it's nothing to do with Damon Albarn. It's peter someone and someone, featuring victoria someone. Called the Young Folks. Please close, what a non event.

Errrrr, to end the insanity the group is Peter, Bjorn and John, the song is called Young Folks, and the album Writer's Block

Their previous LP is far better though

Edited to end even more insanity

And it sounds nowt like Gorillaz...

Although as I was looking around it seems a Albarn's next project is Gorillaz related.

Really, I thought he was done with that. Isn't it DVD stuff?
I prefer his stuff with GB&TQ. I also think his next project is Blur...

Damon should be close to retiring I reckon.

I'm now old, and I listened to him when I was a nipper on the bus travelling to school!

He must be ancient - like Val Doonican old.

Feeling old mate?
I still reckon Blur/albarn can be relevant... He hasn't been doing badly lately and hasn't gone anywhere near blur for 3 well received LP's..
Where's Theo

I'm 'feeling' young tonight well...younger anyway.

He is a musical genius, I would never dispute it. One of our all-time greats now I think.

One classic record, and never a duff one - experimental sure, but never forgetting the basics of melody and truly understanding of what makes a great pop record.

Ah, so that's it - it just had a reference on imdb. As for Blur, he's quoted in that Q article as saying Blur are dead - for the time being at least.

And I'll say it again, Young Folks sounds nowt like Damon (you know even they hate the comparison) - clear the earwax out, dudes!

...and it's been re-released 59 times, came out in 2006, hammered to death by 6music on first release and has been played to bloody death since. It can go away now.

So it's not just me that thinks they sound the same? If you can't hear the similarities I'd suggest a hearing trumpet.

I have to be honest and say I hadn't ever drawn a comparison. I guess perhaps it's just the echo effect that's used.

Sounds like it's you who needs the trumpet my friend - it's NOT a new song (as Barney points out) - a little research on your part would've negated the need for this thread.

And for the record, Peter, Bjorn & John wish the song would go away as well.

Perhaps this thread should go the way of your suggestion in the first post now you've had your question answered.

What?! Google 'that song that sounds like Damon Albarn' tried that. You're on musical crack.

New or not it's getting a hell of a lot of airplay at the moment.
