I thought it was only going to be 8 episodes anyway? why can't they just let it run its course for those who have invested time in it.

Supposedly it's gonna have all the loose ends tied up by the end of the season, but they did have ideas on what they were going to do with season 2 if they managed to get that far.

Shame though, I was really enjoying the series.

I enjoyed the first episode but the 2nd and 3rd were not that good and i stopped watching after that, so not really that surprised it got the can.

its almost not worth watching US tv shows until they get into their second season - just so u know u are at least going to get something worth while.

After cancelling Firefly and Dark Angel in a heart bit, nothing ever suprises me with US tv anymore.

The remaining two are being aired. It's just not getting a second season.

Probably the most unsuprising news of the year given that the show was delayed by near enough a year, then reduced episode order from 13 to 8....

As long as it wraps up the plot before the end of the last (eighth) episode, i'll be happy. It's been surprisingly watchable so far.

The creator said something on its imdb page somewhere that if it was canned, he would spill the beans anyway

Gah, rumours of a second season that will never happen. I've only been watching this, literally just watched episode four, despite knowing before that there were only eight episodes because I'd read it would all be wrapped up at the end. Now it sounds as if it's being left open on the off chance of a reprieve.

Well according to that blog post they were making this back in November and got cut back from the original 13 order. The writing was pretty much on the wall back then.

if you write a series, surley everything should be rapped up nicley by the end of the series. then if you get a 2nd series you then take the program off in a new direction?

I'm getting tired of liking programmes that keep getting canned.

I'm starting to think the people in charge of the tv companies are to blame, they should be making stuff for entertainment purposes and not for profits, they see what shows like Freinds and Lost have achieved and try and create everything to achieve the financial success those shows gained

Since it's been pushed to air in the summer I'm not surprised, but I still would've liked to have seen more. This show is a lot better than some other crap ABC has renewed for next season, like October Road and According to Jim, and it's certainly better than Prison Break (seems like a popular comparison). ABC could at least have kept it at 13 episodes and let it wrap up there and not decide that it will only be 8 episodes when the 13th just had been written.

Well I've just watched episode eight and you guys aren't going to be very happy. So much for a rewrite to provide a conclusion.

Looks like the best we can hope for is a brief text conclusion:

"When/if we are officially cancelled, I will return to this blog to answer them all with a "series wrap-up" because "the Porters" deserve a satisfactory ending to this journey. Here's hoping we can provide it with more episodes. If not, you'll read it here."

Not a bad mini series - nice enemy of the state feel about it (which is a film I liked).

Only problem - no sort of big picture fitting together at the end, more of a yeah well we'd have a season 2 if we could, so send your paintings in to abc so they recomission us (or something).

Ahhh well, couldn't see it lasting from when I watched the first episode and thought it was some comedy/road trip adventure then it changed drastically (although the aired pilot actually addressed that and edited it).
