I quite liked it.

Was the alien at the beginngin the same one I saw from Torchwood? It looked familiar.

What was the car?

Nice bit of fun I thought. All kinds of references littered around SJ's home.

This is the kind of show Torchwood really should be given the childishness of TW. Investigating aliens on earth, bit of fun, action and adventure, no gay references (unless you count K9's bum stuck in a black hole ) and ugly rape monkeys.

Was pretty underwhelmed myself - my eight year old wasn't terribly impressed either....

It was aimed at kids, I wasn't expecting much since torchwood is pretty underwhelming but this was a lot more enjoyable than some of Torchwood, Sarah Jane was quite pointless though, she just sat crouched in a ball while KyleXY saved the day.

It was well done though and I think RTD hit the target audience perfectly. I enjoyed it anyway. Next up, Torchwood.

Of the three shows, this one actually seems the most well-made. It isn't ruined by the musical score like Doctor Who, and any childishness suits it because it's for children. It actually came across less childish than DW, for its timeslot and audience.

It ran fairly slow, though. And it's annoying to see she has a sonic screwdriver. I don't think I'll be watching the series since it's a CBBC show, and there's no need to obsessively watch it just so we can all talk about it here.

I thought the script was rather excellent for a childrens programme. ('Im gonna call the Police..and Childline' - 'Ivan was chasing me around the bedroom with a bottle of pop, I thought, well, thats novel....').

There wasn't a lot not to like, and the hour passed very pleasantly. A lot better than Torchwood.

The BBC's latest Doctor Who spin-off, The Sarah Jane Adventures, launched yesterday with a one-off special attracting 2.9 million viewers and a 14% share between 4.50pm and 5.50pm.

I also found the acting by elizabeth Sladen to be miles better than that in Torchwood..

Might tune in to this - I didn't want a single episode of Torchwood but this looked a bit more promising and after Charlie Brooker's write-up in the Guardian at the weekend, it sounds like it might be worth a go.

Thought it was rather good. Despite the modern sunny D / mobile phone / internet trappings, it had quite an old fashioned 1970's feel, but nothing wrong with that.

Thought this was quite good. Better than Torchwood, better than most of series 2 of DW.

Brilliant letter on the Ceefax TV chat pages.
"Sarah Jane Adventures is a complete rip-off of Doctor Who. The sonic lipstick is a rip-off of the screwdriver ! "

Thought this was great for a kids show. Was well put together and even the acting from most of the kids was better than your average episode of Torchwood (though the girl who plays Kelsey was pretty terrible). I agree with the point earlier that unlike Doctor Who, the music wasn't annoying or intrusive.

Mr Smith and Sonic lipstick aside, the only problem I had was the way they wrote out K9. Russell T Davies described it as "fiendish" when in reality it was "beyond awful". Which is a shame really as slotting in K9 to the show would make it irresistable for the kids.

Thought this was good, better than Torchwood (but then again that's not saying much!).

I actually found the "Sonic lipstick" quite funny.

Two scenes did seam to be a bit over long (the first visit to the factory, & in Sarah's house). I presume the series will be the CBBC friendly 25 minute format (hopefully in 2 or more parts), so this will move along a lot faster.
