Engineering-wise, interesting, as a house, horrible.
If I was a neighbour I would be seriously ****** that such a p.o.s got planning permission.
Bet the neighbours wished they'd bought the land now.

I noticed that some way into the programme there was a shot of the house to the left of Monty's one with a 'sold' sign in front of it so I wonder if the neighbour on that side had had enough and decided to cut and run. On the trade secrets show,

Just read in the local paper that the guy who converted the church has just had a heart attack. On release from the hospital he said "it could have been worse, it could have happened halfway through the build."

Thought the revisited show was excellent, a true grand design with lots of 'bespoke' design features. I thought the pods worked extremely well in the mono floor structure and the ceiling height was extremely good and I thought the stairs were fine, especially after they put backs behind them.

Contrary to the above posts i thought it was nice and homely inside with lots of well thought out design features using up the space.

We never found out what was on the site before but I bet it's better now than what it was like (especially compared with the depressing looking flats opposite) so can't really see why the neighbours would be against it and after all they are not overlooked at all.

The house one side had all the light blocked out and one window looked directly down through the glass roof to their lounge.

How come it got palnning persmission ? If the neighbours complain does it mean it that it can still get built ?

Awful building if you ask me.

You can only object to planning permission on certain grounds, which are quite restrictive.

http://www.richmond.gov.uk/what_is_a...ng_application gives an idea of what can be considered

Watched the rerun of the Cloud 8 chap on More 4 last night - he hasn't updated his site, so does anyone know if it's finally finished?

I emailed him about 4 weeks ago and received no reply. I asked about it on a few other forums and it would seem the house was not finished properly.

Nice end to the series this week, the craftmanship on some of the features was amazing.

Think the only thing that ruined that last house was the fact that his old house which he was trying to sell was right next door to his newly built house

I don't think it was, they lived in a barn conversion. The house on the land was derelict and came with the land purchase.

It wasn't made clear though as to whether they were going to do it up and sell it or demolish it.

Bummer, the close vicinity of the house next door somewhat spoiled it for me too. I missed the beginning of the show and for some reason thought their last house was a barn or sommit?

His craftmanship and attention to detail was amazing and the overall 'sustainable' plan was pretty impressive. Dunno about that bath though (he should of carved one )...

The house next door was not the one they were trying to sell it was on the land they bought. The house they were selling was a barn conversion he did himself, there was a quick shot of it at the start and it looked very nice.

The only reason I can think it was still there is it's protected and they can't get permission to demolish it. Or they were living in it while he was building the wooden house and it will be demolished soon enough.

The house he build was very nice I thought, and I am always impressed when someone does all the work like that themselves. The kitchen was a bit too hobbity for my taste but the rest was very nice.

Anybody see this this week with the castle in Italy? Great build I thought - poor kevin couldn't find anything to fault though as they had architects, planners and decent builders

I saw this one. Fantastic location and the outside looked amazing, but didn't think a lot of the interior decor Not my taste at all.

Yeah - I'd go with that, a lot of the interior isn't what I'd have wanted either to be honest, but got the impression that they were constrained on the interior to by the 'this is a typical Tuscan thing to have' from the architects.

Yeah was a really nice job although I don't fancy it's chances in another earthquake !

I was also quite supprised that after all the fuss about the exterior look of the thing they then allowed them to stick on another floor with 3 nasty square windows !

Great to see Grand Designs back though wasn't overly keen on tonights design. What was the kitchen all about??? Oh symmetry that's it

All credit to the chap for experimenting with new methods though, much braver than I

Yeah a pretty good one last night, well at least they finished it! Was surprised how quiet that air hammer was (not the louder one used to get the more stubborn piles down ).
