John Barnes - presenter extraordinaire.....!

Have you ever seen anyone so terrified of a camera?! He's absolutely awful, but it is so good to watch, the sort of uncomfortable but entertaining feeling you get watching the Office!

I'd love to have seen Daglish's face when the camera's were on Barnes tripping and stumbling through the que cards!

Classic!

As this is about the presenter of the show it is better suited to the TV forum

He....is...a............natu..ral.

Fair play to him though, I remember seeing Gary Lineker doing a few Sportsnights (I loved that programme) in his earlier broadcasting career.

Barnes was a great player but is a useless TV presenter.

Also I am disturbed by the new phenomenon of football presenters nakedly showing their allegiances to a particular term. Not healthy.

R.e ex-pros being bias to their former teams - its always happened hasn't it?

Yes but with the likes of Hansen and Lawrenson there are attempts to be unbiased.

Barnes doesn't even try.

I remember when Man United played Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League a few years back. Barnes said how much he hoped that Real would beat United. Lost all sympathy from me as a presenter knowing he thinks like that.

Yawn, and the usual suspects on ITV, Ron Atkinson and co aren't Uber-pro ManU?

Anyhow, I've always thought that coverage of club games in Euro competitions shouldn't be 'us' and 'them' as with internationals. But thats just, like, my opinion man... or something.

Tyledsley (?) is openly a "ManU!!" fan, and as such ever since they won the CL, his commentaries have been unbearable.
Sky's "FanZone" has more balanced commentators.

Barnes has been a pundit for quite a while now, so it's only natural that he'd take a while to get into the presenting lark.
The show tonight was better than the first one he did, so there is progress.
When he gets more comfortable anchoring, I reckon he could be good.

"I wanna be John Barnes!"

If you thought Barnes was bad as a TV presenter......anyone remember HTV's football man Roger Malone? he was awful. He made Barnes look good.

Lawrenson hates Bolton with a passion. Generally tips against us in every match (surprisingly he thinks we'll win against Southampton tomorrow - what a kiss of death!). Why does he hate us? We stuffed his home team Preston in the division 1 play off final three years ago.

so anyone who posts hmmmmmmmmm either has no idea what makes a good footballer or is too young to remember the late 80's
and early ninety's
