DVD R Media and Standalone Player

Im looking at archiving my Tivo Recordings to DVD R /RW media. Are there any standalone (under telly) players that will read this new medai?

There appears to be more than one standard - as usual. So I dont really wont next years door stop.

Expect this thread to be moved.

I think that it doesn't really matter too much which format you go for, if the recordings are for you then even if the format becomes obsolete - it'll still work.

IME, the cheaper technology is DVD-R, both for the players and the media. How about the Panasonic DMR-E30 player?
