Are the DVD and blu ray identical in terms of extras? Recently the BFI have started spreading them across the two discs rather than have the same on each.

In the case of Nightbirds, yes. The Body Beneath, the commentary, the two trailers and the two alternate soundtracks are on both the Blu and the DVD.

(The BFI only spread the extras if a particular addition is in standard definition only - in which case it won't appear on the Blu. The new Flipside of The Black Panther is one such example, where the original trailer isn't available in HD and therefore shows up on the DVD part of the dual format edition only.)

Have really enjoyed these flipside articles. Will be picking up Nightbirds as soon as I can. Thanks for taking the time to put together such an insightful feature.

Thanks for some very interesting articles. Will there be more of this sort of thing, either with the BFI or some of the other boutique labels like Eureka?

Thank you Simon.

There's nothing along similar lines in the works at the moment, but I would hope that these kinds of articles will become a regular feature on the site. As the writer of the Flipside pieces it's been fascinating to delve into the inner-workings and I'd love to do more of the same.
