Can't wait to get a look at Star Wars: Despecialized.
I'm going to watch them over the next fee nights!

I'm actually looking forward to it and I'm more excited about them than the Blu-Ray release!

Just seeing the clip of the Sarlacc back to the version I loved, not the crap CGI worm, is one of the highlights for me!

The jump cuts on the lightsaber igniting bits were especially grating on blu-ray. They were always there but not as noticeable as before. Same goes for the "whooshy" doors on the Death Star, it's even more blatant that the footage was sped up and the actors are trying to stand as still as possible.

My biggest problem is that not in any version they bothered to clean up the garbage matt lines around the Tie Fighters in all 3 movies. It's particually bad right at the end of Empire. It's one of the easiest things to fix.

I can remember when the special editions came out and one of the things they said they'd fixed was the transparent cockpits in the Hoth battle. Again though it seemed like they'd only done it on some shots and not the majority as if they just couldn't be bothered. It was still the same on the 2004 DVDs and I bet it's still the same on these BDs.

That's some way to advertise the BD releases!

Wow!

Just played the first few seconds of Star Wars: Despecialized and I'm grinning like a maniac!

I just wanted to test it out and the opening 20th Century Fox, LucasFilm and Star Wars screen graphics looked amazing on my 42" plasma!

Can't wait to sit down and revisit Star Wars tonight!

It's certainly a thing of beauty and probably the closest we'll get to a Bluray release of the original version for a long time

Yep, but I've only got a HD Ready 42" Panasonic (768p?).

It still looks nice though! A lot better than I was expecting it to. Crisp edges around the text on the screen and around the people. I've not seen the non-anamorphic DVD versions but I'm sure this version is better than those.

It looked as good as some Blu-Ray films that I've seen... probably the non-reference material ones.

Very happy so far!

I have the non-anamorphic DVD versions of the original trilogy and the despecialized versions look miles better, just brilliant work by Harmy... obviously entire scenes like the original song in Jabba's palace means it goes to SD, but its done remarkably well.

I was thinking that there might be some dips in quality throughout but the first few minutes of Star Wars looks nice and consistent.

I'll watch the full film tonight and will report back!

The clips on YouTube looked good though - the original Sarlacc, etc.

You can see the joins, as it were, in Despecialized and the colour is the same as the 2004 version, but overall the effect is marvellous.

Don't be silly! He'll decide that he likes the picture, then go and edit all scenes on the Blu-ray that feature Vader's saber and edit it, so that it's blue and then claim that's how he always wanted it.

Hope whoever does these non legal versions gets done by copyright people... There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original versions the dvds had.... No they ain't as sharp as the anamorphic version but ain't old looking originals what u lot want.. I bet if u had a time machine and went back to 77 to the best cinema i bet it still wouldn't look as good as the non anamorphic version... Look u lot asked for the originals and Lucas gave them to you... The man can't win

Not ever gonna happen! George and Lucasfilm are 100% perfectly fine with fan edits as long as no money changes hands.

The guy who created the first fan edit of Episode I, got invited to Skywalker Ranch to watch a preview of Episode III.

the original versions on the (now) deleted discs are as half arsed as possible - its as if Lucas said you want the originals? then here they are... and he ****** himself laughing..
