Bah, you always have to brag about this. I was tempted to get a second-hand Pioneer 509 recently but it was still quite expensive, and with Panasonic's recent promise that their next generation of screens will incorporate Pioneer's technology... Well, I'm keeping my hopes up.

To be honest screens now are getting a lot closer to Pioneer's standard. Actually I think Pioneer sold off the Kuro technology to Panasonic anyway, when they quit production.

When I bought my Hitachi panel I understood at the time they were regarded as highly as Pioneer panels are over here

Oh yeah, they did. I think they just haven't had time to implement the technology in their panels until now (or rather, the generation that comes out in the spring).
