Slightly off topic: Anyone had a listen to that new band Frank Black started with his Mrs. Was going to get it but can't remember their name.

Yeah, that's obvious, it just stings a bit when it's such a loved band.

Grand Duchy is the name of their project.

I don't see why them playing again "stings" anyone!!! It's the same band singing the same great songs and it's not like they are doing it out of greed, but, more likely, out of necessity. I think you'd have to be particularly sour to begrudge Pixies doing the occasional ... and it is very occasional... live show as a way of earning a bit of, what I imagine will be, much needed money. Maybe Charles does "OK"(ish) from their back catalogue, being the main writer, but I bet Kim, Joey and especially David don't get very much at all from Pixies record sales. If they were all rolling in dosh and this was another Sting-needs-to-finance-a-new-apartment-overlooking-Central-Park-to-keep-Trudie-happy reunion type deal, I would be down the front wiping my backside on my Doolittle poster set, making them into paper planes and chucking them at the stage. But, thankfully, that's not the case.

Internet tip: Spell their name Pixie$ to impress other forum users - it's amusing and it's got a satirical edge. People will respect you and value what you say above all others.

I couldn't care less if they're just doing it for the money, I stupidly turned down the chance to see them around 1990 so was really happy to see them at Brixton in 2004. Some people complained when Frank Black didn't play much Pixies material on his old tours, but then called them sell outs for re-forming. Everyone has their price, maybe even Ian Brown!

I will be amazed if it is a new album. More likely a box set of some sort, with maybe a few new tracks, I would have thought.

Would love to hear a new album, though. Sure, I know it could not live up to the originals, but I kinda like Bam Thwok so more of that would do for me.

There's a song off svn fngrs that is the most Pixies sounding thing in recent years called Garbage Heap.

The last Frank Black album was made from the songs he wrote for the last proposed Pixies album. It was his best in years but would have been a lot better with Kim, Joey and David playing on it.

Was that Bluefinger or Svn Fngrs? Both are really quite good.

Bluefinger. You could tell the proposed Pixies tracks by the female backing vocals.

They seem to be some kind of high-end outfit, doing special editions of albums.

Strange that nothing has been previously mooted, especially when there's been Breeders news afoot.

Strange mix of disappointment and happiness about the news. Does look lush though...

They released a Sigur Rós special edition album set a year or so back. Quite nice to look at.

However there were some people who were not too happy with how the vinyl set/book was manufactured and reported some problems.

Try for the deluxe version as I have no real need for the vinyls. Looks very promising though.
