This was excellent. Let's hope it keeps up for the rest of the season

Reza Aslan Addresses Every Mystery in The Leftovers’ Premier.

A lot of detail in there that I missed! Apparently everything is imbued with meaning. I'm getting a very strong Lost vibe with this (yes I know it's the same writer!), in that they've opened the second season with a massive left curve and creating more mysteries on top of the ones already created.

Hopefully it will pan out unlike Lost. I don't want to be looking back a few years from now thinking as I did with Lost that whilst I mostly enjoyed the ride, there is no point rewatching anything because none of it made any sense in the end anyway.

I think I said this last season, but I get the sense that Damon Lindeloff really learnt from Lost, in that in Leftovers the focus has always been on the people and the secrets they're keeping and how they're reacting to the unknown and unknowable. It's really very clever I think.

Excellent opener. I had my doubts half way through, but was gripped by the end.

Seems they're taking it in a different direction.

Last season was "normal life in a weird situation" and the ramifications on people being so different despite the same influences.

Now we're back at Lost2 territory with symbolism a plot arc and vagueness.

So many questions raised in that ep. Seriously hope it doesn't do a Lost.

Yeah this episode so reminded me of Lost season openers, 'hatch' and 'the others' etc. Lindelof obviously.

Watched FTWD followed by this last night, the gulf in quality between the two was actually quite jarring.

This is going straight to the top of my watch list on a monday night, it just oozes quality.

Funny thing is, I had a love/hate relationship with Lost (ended up being mostly hate) as I watched for the mystery and thought the whole character building was weak and mostly pointless. With The Leftovers I don't care if we don't get any answers, the plot and characters are far more interesting.

So they've known each other since third grade, so why the shock when he asks if he has a birthday coming up?

Other than that, it is great to have this programme back.

S2e2 was pretty entertaining too. Interesting use of timelines. I find the sense of not-being-in-control quite terrifying, which thankfully adds to the watchability. Good to see some familiar faces too.

Your not kidding that was outstanding, I had to rewind the last few minutes and watch it again Chris Zylka's monologue at the end was spellbinding.

And I love Laurie that chick is crazy with a capital C.

The Leftovers - New Damon Lindelof / HBO Sci-fi

Three for three so far this season. Absolutely sublime television of the highest magnitude. It's the perfect combination of fascinating characters, fresh challenging ideas, beautiful music & top-drawer acting/direction. There's nothing else currently playing that comes close to matching this IMO.

Yeah, Fargo is the closest out of the current shows I watch. Really need to catch up with The Affair at some point.

Episode four continued both the excellence of this season two and their run of amazing covers. This time of 'You're The One That I Want':

Only thing that annoyed me about this episode, and it was such a Lost kind of thing to do, when the crazy guy on the tower shouts who is your friend, instead of asking the guy can you see here Kevin just goes home.

Unless she's not visible to crazy guy and it looks like Kevin is talking to himself. I know tower guy is a bit nuts probably but it's a bit of a strange thing to ask someone.
