I can't see how they do that - the android model works by building a hardware xml list for the hardware a device supports.

I guess they do a check if hdmi hardware exists here, but the following XML doesn't list hdmi as a core hardware element :

tablet-core-hardware.xml

Likely because its part of the overall cpu / gpu chipset. So I guess they are trying to use some other method, which isn't guaranteed to be successful on all hardware and android configurations. Thats likely why it works fine on the hudl 2.

I will check tonight on my MiniX .

Some devices just mirror the tablet on the HDMI out, so maybe that side of things is what works.

4oD works fine on the MiniX.

One thing annoys me though, is some apps don't work on the ethernet port of my TV box - only wireless. The inability to programme in a check for both an ethernet port or a wireless astounds me no ends. Surely it can't be on purpose.

Ah, just gave it a go. Sky Go working normally on my Hudl 2 - I was watching some Italian football on Sky Sports. Plugged in my micro-HDMI lead (which is connected to HDMI4 on my TV) - playback immediately stopped with a message 'sorry, Sky Go is not supported via HDMI' or words to that effect.

So, a no go.
