I actually want to see Nolan and Bale team up twenty years from now to do a refitting of the DKR in the universe they have established (i.e. drop Superman from it along with some of the sillier parts of the story).

To the guy I was discussing the end of BB with:

Does Batman actually kill Ra-Ghul at the end? No, he doesn't "save him". That rule continues in TDK.

As you were.

I agree with Bender's take on the
scene. Much darker, and much more realistic. While this film was dark by comic book standards it wasn't dark by movie standards.

Burtons Batman was fun and wacky, there was no need for Nolan to remake a classic, thank God he didn't.
But the Batman films have never been rainbows and sunshine apart from the original 60s shows.

Batman Forever was the only one that had some sunshine in it.

Ok, Batman may be a dark character but not this ******* dark. This is as far fetched from the comics as you can get.

With regard to the comments about the violence and the 12A; it's an interesting twist that the BBFC were once seen twitching their snippers at the mere sight of violence - and now we have the reciprocal - a film classified a 12A with a reasonable amount of dissent that it perhaps should be in a higher category.

I thought this really was a 15 certificate in my eyes, but the 12A is doing what it deserves to do - pass the responsibility back to the parent, although until said parent has seen it how do you do that?

I've just seen this and it was a mixed bag. The first part was underwhelming. The middle to almost the end were fantastic. The last 30 minutes I wasn't sure of. The stuff with Harvey Dent was brilliant but the whole Batman vs The Joker in that part just seemed irrelevant. The Joker did seem a bit pointless towards the end.

I think Aaron Eckhart gave a better performance than Heath Ledger but he still great.

The performances from the rest of the cast were great, good script and it was very well made but I can't really say much more than that.

8/10.

Just back from seeing this and I'm really sorry but it's a bit of a let-down. Really enjoyed Begins, but just don't feel this is as good a film.
The cinematography was bad, Gotham looked like a completely different city compared to Begins, Batman's voice was really offputting, the idea of no Joker backstory doesn;t sit with me,
.
Only slightly picked up with the
sequence. And if Ledger's nominated, then Oldman should be too. I felt that was a more honest performance, rather than Ledger's gimmicky-OTT-trying to be better than Nicholson.
Sorry but only 6/10 and not as good as Iron Man.

I would have to say that Iron Man has been the most enjoyable comic to screen adaptation to date for me.

Was Utterly enjoyable and RDJ just nailed the character.

As for Bale, I think he's been the poorest Batman of the lot, even Clooney was better.

Sorry mate, I meant which Batman comics. You mentioned it being far removed from the comics, but reading stuff like Year One, The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke, I feel like the tone was spot on.

I'm talking about the comics from the 70s and 80s not graphic novels.

I think Bale has been the best Batman.......but then The Dark Knight was released and it all went South.

Ledger deserves an Oscar

Im really puzzled how this film is being sounded out as the best film for years. I do look forward to seeing it again though to see if maybe i missed something!!

Some of the '70s Batman stuff is pretty dark - the Marshall Rogers stuff. His Hugo Strange is pretty spooky, and his Joker is grotesque.
