The Weather Man

Watched this last night, and really enjoyed it. Some good moments between Cage and Caine. Has anybody else seen it?

Yep, saw it Saturday night. Fairly good, couldn't stand Caine's attempt at an American accent though. Nicolas Holt was good though but Cage's performence just seemed to similar to his performence in Adaptation and I couldn't help comparing the 2.

Yeah it was a great film. Not exactly a feel good movie but I loved it! Cage was really quite believable and I felt for him a lot of the time.

My thoughts too. It actually made me feel quite depressed after watching it, not because it was a bad film but just the tone of it.

I saw the first hour or so of this last week there were funny bits, but I gave up because it was too slow and boring. Maybe I just wasn't giving it my full attention, but it was just too slow for me.

good quote from Kermode..

"michael caines accent in this traverses entire continents in an entire sentence.."

"they should of said - look michael do it in an english accent - we will put in a line that says you grew up in england"

I loved it. Delicious black comedy, right up my street. Had me howling with laughter. Also couldn't help but feel sorry for almost everyone in the film.

I watched it on a plane as had some funny looks at that

I'm not sure if Cage had to do much acting in the film, seemed very true to himself.

There's a surprise.

Yeah, I thought this was great. Good reaction from the audience.

I really enjoyed this too, it wasnt what i was expecting after seeing the trailer though. I reckon folk should deffo see it.

Just falls short of being a cult classic though, it really tries to get there but fails as it just isnt that good enough. You can really see them try though

I saw this 2 weeks ago. Same kind of humour as Adaptation. Made me laugh quite a bit as his misfortune. Michael Caine was great in it.

I have never heard the phrase camel toe before until I saw this movie.

I too really enjoyed this -- one of the better things of the year so far. But a very hard film to market -- the weak trailers/advertising do it no justice and give no real indication as to the sort of film it really is. And that bit in the trailer with the kid pushing all the buttons in the lift isn't in the final film, is it? (or maybe my concentration had lapsed...)

Dazza.

he mentioned in an interview that he used the emotions he felt from the divorce he was going through.

i thought it was excellent but also had to wonder wtf they were thinking about when they cast michael caine as an american dad. his performance was excellent, his accent was laughable.

awful film... Gore Verbinski def cannot do characters or relationships... just went for cheap dialogue and humour.. and seedy stuff for the sake of it..

Written by Steven Conrad, not Gore Verbinski.
