I am an anime fan in general have watched loads of shows on dvd and fansub, I've got a massive 'to watch' list too but nothing I've seen somes close to Monster, a fantastic must watch show, sublime storytelling over 74 eps, a finer show you will not see

There's only a couple of episode left of season 1 (those displaced by the recap episode they had to stick in there), but Geass is returning for a second season in the fall. I wouldn't expect a whole lot to be wrapped up anytime soon.

Cool, had not heard about a second season

Black Lagoon is worth a watch as well - pretty action based and no robots/magic powers for a change

Any Manga/Anime fans here?
I was until I found out that 99.5% of the Western population who was also into it turned out to be a **** of the highest order, convinced they were Japanese and absolutely repulsive on every level. I'll still watch the classics and stuff I saw as a kid, but thats about it. There's too much of the stuff to keep up with anyway!

Said it earlier but will echo what you said. Start to finish this really is one of the better shows. Lots of characters and mini-stories all leading up to the climax, even right at the end.

So good they're even planning a hollywood film.......

What is this show about? I hear lots of good reports about it but never any info.

Incidentally, the script for the movie has been written by the guy who adapted 'A History of Violence.' He's said that he thinks a lot of the fans might not be all that happy as he's had to cut a lot of the stuff they love. Still, I enjoyed 'A History of Violence' (though I never saw the Graphic novel) so it could turn out ok I guess.

Monster - difficult to categorize but the closest description would be a sort of a thriller/mystery type thing I guess. I'm not even sure how to decribe the premise. It takes a while to get into it's mindset but once you have it is incredible

*BUMP*

Just to add to the general praise for Monster, the only anime series to date that I have watched all the way through. It's perhaps less popular than some series because it doesn't look much like anime, and its dark themes make it an adult viewing experience.

Despite a flabby middle section (apparently filler episodes aren't uncommon in anime) it's a truly brilliant series. It had me hooked right through to the end, to an absolutely sizzling conclusion and its complex characters. The drawing was of an extremely high quality, especially its German scenery, and it contained some genuine scary moments.

Anything else that is like it? I'm going to give that Ergo Proxy a go, but I wouldn't mind something similar to Monster.

Has anyone read the Beck Manga? I have just watched the show and loved it. Is the Manga worth a read? If so where is the cheapest place to get it?

Thanks.

Beck Manga is fantastic and picks up where the show left of.
Usually pick up most of the manga from Amazon with a few others to get free shipping.

If you lived in London then sign-up with the Prince Charles cinema, they will give you 10% discount at the main Forbidden planet store. Which is works out at more or less the same as Amazon. But you're stuck in the middle.

Cheers Kaneda.

Bizarre question BUT a friend of mine has just watched this but he watched the English dub. I didn’t think about this until he mentioned it but the songs have been rerecorded by the new cast. Is there a release of the OST that has the new cast recordings on it?

If anyone still watches Anime and is looking for a show to watch then I would recommend Ghost Hunt. I am half way through it and enjoying every minute so far. I hope the last 10 shows or so don't lose their way.

I've been watching this on your recommendation. I'm definitely enjoying it, the 3-4 episodes to a case structure certainly works for me and the stories have all been compelling so far. The characters are fun and for the central two they drop just about enough information over the duration of each case to keep interest high in their mysterious lives outside of the job. 6 or so episodes left so it'll be interesting to see if it builds to anything big, though I'd be just as happy with another good case for them to solve.

Kanedaa, I have three shows left now to complete the show and so far (touch wood) every single show has held my attention (unlike Ray, which I watched previously). Its certainly been my best show of this year so far.
Of course the next problem is which show to watch next. Anyone got any new show recommendations?

Have you watched Bleach yet?

I'm halfway through the current episodes and am quite enjoying it.

I really enjoyed Baccanno and Mononoke so give those a look.

Other than that i'm giving Soul Eater and RD Sennou a go from this new season and am watching Season 2 of Code Geass

Watched Paprika the other week and would highly recommend that
