Remake of the day part 3 - Romancing the Stone

Hollywood barren of new ideas? No, surely not?

I fully expect Jessica Alba to get the Kathleen Turner part.

Why do I get this strange "Groundhog Day" like vibe that, very soon, Summer schedules are going to be carbon copies of those from my childhood, just full or remakes/sequels rather than the originals?!

No,No,No,NO!!!

Make a third in the series by all means if you really must but never tinker with the underrated original.

What's the point? I'm sorry - I don't get this. You could easily put together a similar style movie, with a similar dynamic between the characters. Is the "brand" really important on a film like this? The remake madness has now officially got to the point where I can't see any sane reason why a studio would greenlight this.

I guess pre-exisiting properties are cheaper plus there's still fallout from the writer's strike so it's not a surprise. Pretty pointless though as they'll be hard pressed to repeat the onscreen chemistry of the first one.

He could team up again with Penelope Cruz like they did in Sahara. That'd work.
Otherwise, how about Brendan Frasier?

Also: Who's short and round enough play the DeVito character?
