No you can't plug a USB stick into some sort of adaptor and then plug it straight into a TV.
At best you can connect a tablet/phone with your movie files on and then cast to the TV or buy a micro usb to hdmi converter if your tablet/phone support it, but this also requires a separate power source for the usb to hdmi unit.
Get a cheap android box that supports usb media and plug that into the hdmi of the TV
Some TVs do have USB ports and have seen them in quite a few hotel TVs on my travels but these have always ended up corrupting the USB stick.
So cast from a tablet or phone or via a micro USB to HDMI connection or cheap android box those are your options.
