Why is it that no one else seems to hear/see the helicopter(s) that keep flying over ??

So, we jump ahead six years into a Rick-less future & apart from some dodgy hair-styles, it's the same old show. Carol's bad-ass "Firestarter" moment was the highlight & the final scene was suitably creepy....

It's certainly the same old ****.

I'll watch the half season finish and then wait until the season ender. Wasn't sure Rick would be that a huge miss as all he did was moan but good lord it felt sparse.

It did feel like Walking Dead the next generation with Judith. However I thought the episode was pretty good, Michonnes walk out was pretty cool before carols and a good scene with Judith & JD Morgan

It seemed similiar and agree with above. Some good scenes and the end was WTF? I wasn't that fussed when Carl died, but if they ever kill of Judith I'll be ******.

The ending was either brilliant or click bait that won't be explained for about 3 seasons

I thought the episode was ok but whilst you can see the new showrunner trying to do some new things if feel's like she's being constrained by the studio to 'play the hits' and keep the show feeling the same.

It seems to me the bigger story they're trying to tackle now is the challenge of rebuilding the world. That's obviously a big change from what seasons 1-8 essentially were, trying to survive the initial aftermath. So in that sense it kind of is a sort of reboot and needed the time jump to do that.

The issue is that it's always been the case that the financial constraints placed on the show were the driving factor of the 'slowness'. I know they claimed actually it was character work but they just did it so poorly that it just annoyed fans with how stupid the characters acted. The other issue is that clearly the studio liked plots of fighting rival factions, probably just because more people just like to watch action than other stuff on TV. The problem was that resulted in a rinse and repeat cycle of the governor, terminus and the saviours.

So basically my hopes are a little lower than they were a few episodes in. I think the new showrunner would be capable of doing something bold with the show but I don't think AMC want to be taking any real risks with their golden goose any time soon.

Thought the latest episode was very good and think I am going to like the new dynamic that the new threat will bring.

Hope those three new kids aren't here for the long haul though.

No it hasn’t and that also goes for the X marks. I’m sure there will be a flashback episode in the next half season where we see what went down in the last six years which caused that rift.

Just caught up with this. Many of the same frustrations, and more unintentional groan/LOL moments than ever, but I've actually quite enjoyed most of this season.

But I didn't like the holding back of an explanation for the fallout and 'X' scars, needing very clumsy dialogue. There was plenty of time to have explained this with flashbacks, and it meant the otherwise excellent Michonne/Carol reunion would have had more meaning and emotional weight.

One comment I read: Jesus should be laid to rest in a cave with a bolder over the door ...
