Detectorists - BBC4

Anyone else watching this?

I think it's absolutely fantastic. Funny, well paced and well shot.

Music's alright as well

Yeah, huge fan of this. Great cast and very well observed, understated comedy.

Last night's was even better. In case you didn't know, the music is by Johnny Flynn.

You can just imagine the number of high level BBC exec meetings about that.

I'm surprised at this. The trailer made it look absolutely terrible. Worth watching then?

I love this and the subtle, dry, good natured humour simply makes me laugh and smile for the whole half hour. Hope a second season is on the cards.

M Crook was on BBC radio just before it aired, said he was hoping there would be another series, deserves another and a better slot.

He also wrote/directed.

Caught a portion of last night's episode having been tipped off that it was filmed in my old hometown! I'll be watching the rest of it now...the small piece of it I saw was quite charmingly humourous.

A very charming series and although I look forward to the second one, where it ended would have been a perfect place to leave it.

That looked like a fairly heavy gold coin to me; I should have thought it obvious that it was more than enough for a good-sized ring, even without mixing with other alloys.
