Question Star Trek Enterprise worth watching?

Welcome

I have watched very few of Enterprise (less than 5) having watch so much of the others. I know the last episode was badly received but is it worth watching the other 97 episodes? Any particular series or episodes a must see?

Thinking of you

Mas

Seasons 1 and 2 are standard 1990s-style Trek, about on a level with the quality of Voyager and zero ambition.

Seasons 3 and 4 are pretty good because they changed up the formula. 3 was one giant serialised story, and 4 began having fun with classic Star Trek stories, paying a lot of fan service.

What brings it all down, though, is that the characters just sucked. I can't remember any specific episodes, I'm afraid.

If you're a Trekkie or a completist, then yes watch it. Otherwise don't bother. It's not particularly good and there's only a few seasons.

Only season 4 was worth watching, they started to fix the characters but it was too late as the writing was on the wall

I gave it a go, couldn't get into it. Probably watched half a season back to back long after it had finished. I like Trek, and have seen all the others a couple of times so it's not like I didn't want to like it.

I'd have got Al from Quantum Leap to cameo, might have made it slightly interesting, especially if he was like Q and could walk through stuff

He was in at least one episode IIRC (the actor not Al). I think I watched the first season before giving up.

The mirror universe 2 parter in season 4 is great, although SB really chews the scenery

Better off watching Battlestar Galactica remake, though that went off the boil towards the end.

Worth watching it all. No.

Worth watching selected episodes and the last 2 seasons apart from the finale.

Yes IMO.

Yeah agree with most the others on here, season 4 definitely worth watching, I can't remember if you needed to watch the first three though, hopefully not, especially the first 2 seasons which were terrible.

I enjoyed them all, though S4 was clearly the best. My Dad bought the complete box set so he obviously enjoyed them all - to each their own.

Even in the first 2 seasons there are some decent episodes though.

A couple of my favourites were -

Acquisition - In which the Enterprise is taken over by a Ferengi "salvage" team and Archer has to use his wits to beat them as all the crew are unconscious. It's quite a fun episode and has Neelix from Voyager as a rather nasty Ferengi and the ever-present Jeffrey Coombs as his under-appreciated idiot cousin. Clint Howard was also part of the Ferengi cast.

Carbon Creek - T'Pol tells a tale of how her relative and crew crash-landed on Earth circa the 50's and how they integrated into small-town society.

The last episode is truly awful, but the rest of season 4 was excellent.

So I recently started watching this after having abandoning it on its original run during season 3. And I must say, either my thirst for new Trek is clouding my judgement or this show has aged incredibly well. I and almost midway through S4 and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride, yes even the first couple of seasons. Some of it may have been lazy 90s Trek just it was the best lazy kind, there were not many episodes that I thought you know what next time I am skipping this one. And there were some gems like Shuttle Pod One, Carbon Creek and Dear Doctor.

But S3 was just "Wow" it started off well and then hit a lull for a couple of episode but then all of a sudden I was wrapped up in this season long arc and just became entranced by the story. I even warmed to the crew although it is hard to ever see Dominic Keating as anyone other then Luke from Desmond's.

S4 has taken things in a different direction and again doing something new with a mixcture of standalone, 2 and 3 part stories. And whats more the Blu ray boxset has some outstanding retrospective documentaries. From the frank discussions between Rick berman and Brannon Braga to the 3 parter look back at each season.

One of my favourite stories from the behind the scenes stuff (for the wrong reasons) is that Braga recounting the demands of one CBS executive that there should be a different boy band in the mess hall each week.

I need to watch those documentaries some day! Season 3 was indeed strong, and season 4 just went for creative fun. The problem is getting through those first two seasons which rank among the lowest quality in Trek.

To me, Season 3 the writers just looked at ds9's war and thought lets copy that but badly with some Braga's temporal cold war BS pulled from his arse. "Resident Vulcan Evil" as the story got called was

Season 4 is what the show should of been

I highly recommend the documentaries some very frank discussions on their which is not in keeping with some of the usual fluff that normally appears on these types of shows.

Maybe it its been the lack of new classic Trek but after all these years I actually enjoyed the first 2 seasons, its aged incredibly well and actually looks beautiful in HD especially S4.

Okay the Resident Evil Vulcans didn't do much for me but I did like the idea of the Temporal Cold war, I love anything to do with time travel and its normally those that episodes that end up being the most memorable.

My main memory of season 3 is that I binge-watched it as I had noro virus at the time. I was sick every 45mins, which was handy as it meant I could see a whole episode between running off to the loo.

Saw Star Trek Beyond again the other day (my favourite of the reboot Treks) - there's a throwaway line in there about the Xindi war which was a nice touch.

I really thought being sick every 45 minutes was going to be a comment about how each episode made you feel
