Maybe missing something here but ... what is wrong with spore drive?

In 95% of the cases it seems to be no different to a warp drive except it gets them there quicker.

It's their Deus ex machina and if it exists in this time, how come it is never used/mentioned in any other Star Trek series set after Discovery?

Well, that's pretty obvious.

It's because the stability of the spore drive temporal field can only be regulated by a cochran dissonance anomaly.

Also [insert random star trek engineering waffle here]

See...

I'm sure there will be some excuse, but it's going to have to be a doozy to get away with it.
Perhaps at the end of it all, it will zoom out of the final shot of discovery, and then refocus on the cover of a book being closed that reads.

It's explained in the spin-off series, Star Trek: Undiscovery

I've kind of enjoyed this series but that was one stinker of a season ender.

Given the way the series has gone they chose the ultimate cop out for the solution and as for the last 10 seconds, really?

What a massive disappointment. Such a load of sanctimonious drivel. None of the humour and charm that all the star trek series had (even voyager).

Give me the Terran empire any day over this holier than thou "lets put the human race at risk because I personally have a crisis of concience" crap

You mean a core ideal of what Star Trek has always been about? Doing the right thing in the face of insurmountable odds, and staying true to your values?

Like Kirk who interfered with a planetary war that was keeping the population in check without damaging the environment or Janeaway that used a biological weapon to attempt genocide or Picard who let a whole drug dependent planet suffer rather than tell the truth or just about any of DS9 with their genetically engineered viruses to wipeout the shapeshifters or ... Need I continue?.

The ending to the war was not great and felt like it was quick way of finishing the story. At least it didn't end with Riker on the Holodeck during the speech

Also, I can see Phillipa teaming with harry Mudd (and then try to kill each other in a double cross)

To be fair that was Section 31

Now Starfleet installs a dictator and gives them a weapon of mass destruction cannot see how that was better than wiping them out as per the original plan.

The new look Constitution Class was nice; but I had hoped that the distress call was coming from NX-01
