I presume "watching via online content" is a euphemism for "I download it illegally" ?

I really don't understand why people are so upset about the ginger bloke - it's not like it's the first time there's been musician cameos in GoT, and I never heard many people complaining about bloody Nine Inch Nails in Twin Peaks!

Same here. Coldplay and Sigur Ros have all been in it before.

I guess as he's such a well known face it was a bit jarring. Can't say it bothered me too much, though the scene felt a little out of place with a bunch of Lannister soldiers being so nice and friendly to a strange girl after the Freys had all just been killed.

The difference is that they were there as musicians or just in the background. Sheeran is not an actor.

The other cameos were just blokes in the background. This one zoomed in on his face while he sang a song. And then he was in shot throughout the following scene grinning like a competition winner.

His acting was pretty poor even was just a few lines, they couldn't get a better line reading than that?

at least he wasn't singing 'shape of you' to Aria Stark - that would just be wrong

The really annoying thing was it broke my quest of never hearing him sing.

Apparently some bloke out of heavy beat combo Mastodon was in last night's episode too. But clearly he could act so no one minded.

I actually never even knew who he was.
I guessed he was someone famous (sooner or later everyone will have been in got) but not til I read online comments did I know who he was

It was that "it's a new one" line that I found really jarring, I'm guessing they were going for a knowing joke but it came across like a cheap comic relief spoof.

There's been cameos before, but the way they seemed to linger and focus on his gurning face just made it seem really out of place. Was weird.

Nothing wrong with a "wait a sec, was that..." type cameo. But this is GoT, they shouldn't be "wow look at us, we've got Ed Sheeran to do a cameo" type appearance.

Never mind, you'll all get to enjoy his undoubtedly grisly death soon enough.

I got the impression that was the whole point of the scene, good soldiers talking about good times for a change only to be found carved up in a future episode.

Can we use this thread to discuss future events and theories? Like Azor Ahai (aka the Prince Who Is Promised and has been mentioned a couple of times in passing in the show by Melisandre), or Bran's possible connection to the Night King?

Or should I resurrect the book spoilers thread?

Well, considering it's all unknown (both books and tv now) I don't see the problem.

Some people prefer no spoilers/theories at all though.

Could have been worse...

Aria: "Where are you headed?"
Ed: "The castle on the hill"

....

Sadly it's all anyone has to say about the episiode!

I liked the episode, good to have it back, but it seems in full on ending mode. Having Aria just end a whole storyline in a great scene is showing that. Not massively seeing much more for her to do? She can't really go and silent assassin all the remaining enemies can she?
