That was my opinion on it too, you can't start something like that without an idea of where you're going to go with it. It's a bit contemptuous.

But hey, if the TV show is going to finish everything off for me (which is what I knew would end up happening even before the series aired), I won't feel the need to bother with any of his books again.

Didn't the original interview say that they hadn't decided yet?

So apparently the runtimes of this season have been leaked:

Episode 1: 59 minutes.
Episode 2: 59 minutes.
Episode 3: 63 minutes.
Episode 4: 50 minutes.
Episode 5: 59 minutes.
Episode 6: 71 minutes.
Episode 7: 81 minutes.

Knowing this show those last two episodes are probably essentially gonna be lavish fantasy TV films.

I don't really understand most of that last post (what time period is he not going to publish another book of?) but I do know you really, really need to start checking your posts before posting major spoilers in spoiler tags rb!

Fortunately there were no spoilers really, apologies.

Basically we had 2 books with no mention of the storyline, I strongly doubt it's making a comeback

You mentioned
, so yes there was a potentially huge spoiler for TV viewers if that plotline is explored, and no there hasn't been two books with no mention of the storyline, have you even read these books? There has only been A Dance with Dragons since A Feast for Crows. If you think GRRM is in the habit of introducing major supporting characters and then simply forgetting about them, you may as well stop reading now because you don't seem to be actually following what he's writing.

I don't think mentioning a character from the books who hasn't been in the TV series, and is unlikely to be in the remaining 2 seasons without being totally different from the book storyline anyway, can be considered a "potentially huge spoiler" can it?

I'd have thought not, especially since the TV show has jumped so far ahead of the books. I'd speculate the next book (if ever published) will not even catch us up with the last series.

She'd be a bit ripe by now.

The key is the word "potentially", if they do introduce the plotline then it's a major spoiler, if they don't then it isn't. I think the opportunity for the introduction has passed, but who knows?
