I am eagerly waiting for this TV series. I have seen all the seasons of Game of Thrones. Let's see Jhon Snow can fulfill his revenge or not?

They're really giving nothing away if you're up to date on the series. I recall being behind in 24 and a BBC news article spoiling it for me, but if you're only into S2, it would merely confirm certain characters are still alive and considering the number of deaths, it'd be a spoiler.

I'm with you on that one, I don't want to know anything.

Spin-offs are due after the show finishes.

Not surprising really given it's success. Jane Goldman will be attached to the writing team.

I'd like to see all the Mad King stuff and the Jon Snow origin stuff.

As in Robert's Rebellion and the Tower of Joy stuff?

It would have to focus on Rhaegar, surely? He's arguably the most important character in the story!

Not sure what else they could do? The Long Night? The Fall of Valyria?

Dunk & Egg is the most obvious route.

Not Sure what else they could do? You've got major wars running all through the back story: Robert's Rebellion, The Dance of Dragons (Targaryen civil war involving dragons), The War of Conquest (when the Targaryen's first took control of Westeros, with dragons), War of the Night's King (Starks + Wildlings led by Joramun vs The Night's Watch led by the corrupted Night's King, with giants), and last but not least: The War for the Dawn (Azor Ahai leads the first war against The Others during The Long Night).

All of the above have been mentioned in the show to varying degrees. The novels have an extremely rich backstory for them to plunder, but Robert's Rebellion aside there's very little explicitly written by G R. R. to actually "adapt", so these spin off shows will succeed or fail based on how good the writers are I suppose! Just look what happened when LOTR was over and they decided to adapt The Hobbit as a trilogy with extra padding from the scriptwriters.

So G.R.R. Martin has confirmed that there is in fact a total of five prequel spin-off treatments being written, and none of them will be set during Robert's Rebllion, chiefly because he wants to explore that more in the books first and presumably it'll take up a good chunk of S7 of the show. Dunk and Egg are also out, he wants to write more novellas and finish that story off before exploring TV adaptations of it! Full details can be found in his blog post on the matter.

The only thing that bums me out about this news (as a book reader) is that all this work he's gonna be doing on whatever prequel show(s) eventually goes into production will surely split his time away from finishing the bloody novels!

I think we need to accept he'll never finish the novels, he looks a couple of big macs away from a heart attack whenever you see him anyway and he seems to take it as a personal mission that "he isn't your b****."

Personally I think if you've started writing a series, has legions of fans, you owe it to them to finish the series.

Maybe he's intimidated by The End. Putting it off maybe has some psychological element.

Maybe he's already written it and in a stunning twist has stipulated in his contract that it not be released until he passes, just to stir up a momentary amount of sordid sick displeasure to his fanbase that'll they'll never read how it ends.

I doubt he'll finish them either.
