Saw a trail on Sky Atlantic for three new shows - Guerrilla with Idris Elba, Riviera with Julia Stiles, and the most interesting one to me was Tin Star with Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks.

Also I noticed on discovery, Geoffrey Rush is starring as Einstein in a new series which could be interesting.

Nobodies, about a group of D-List comedians had a few laughs, but the characters were so irritating I had to turn it off halfway though the second episode for fear of kicking my TV in.

I also watched a couple of the Amazon pilots that might go to series if they get enough votes:

Oasis was a decent enough bit of sci-fi but didn't feel particularly original.

The New V.I.P.s just felt like your standard low budget, sweary, badly animated comedy.

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel was excellent & I hope it gets a full season, but I imagine the period setting is expensive to produce.

Watched the first episode of The Son. Some gorgeous cinematography & Pierce Brosnan is watchable value as ever, but everything else was a bit 'meh'.

Also, there seems to be a massive problem with the timeline. It starts in 1849 with young Eli, who looks about 12-15 (& is played by a 21 year old) & then jumps forward 66 years to find Eli played by Brosnan. Is he really supposed to be nearly 80 years old?

Sheeeeeeeeeit

Where's the monsters!?

Didn't even know this was happening until this morning, but might be interesting. Hopefully it's not just a mind **** thing though, and there are actual monsters.

Binged the new Netflix series Girlboss over the last 2 nights. The lead character's a bit obnoxious to start with, but I soon warmed to her (it probably helps that she's played by Britt Robertson). Very entertaining stuff overall, with a great soundtrack.

Hope it gets a second season.

Watched the first two at the weekend (only due to curiosity of a dark-haired Britt Robertson) & was pleasantly surprised at how watchable it was.

I'll return to it in the summer months when regular US TV calms down.

I also have to say it's the best example of Netflix 4K Dolby-vision I've witnessed so far. The picture quality is absolutely stunning.

Take note Marvel with your bloody awful fake film-grain!

Just started The Handmaid's Tale (Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men fame) - the first episode is an absolute belter. Well worth a find...

This is on the pay version of Hulu in the US I believe. Don't think it's been sold to any U.K. or European TV, so only illegal streams.

Thought it was excellent. I read the book some years ago but the details in my memory are sketchy enough to come to this series completely fresh.

Good news. Think I might be preferring it to The Good Wife.

Seth McFarlane's got a new show. Guess he's been watching Galaxy Quest again:

Decent cast & a few laughs there, but it's got a terrible title, looks expensive & it's on Fox, so I give it 8 episodes (shown in the wrong order) before it gets cancelled...

I think a combination of Red Dwarf and Galaxy Quest is enough on the "lets mock the Star Trek view of the Universe." I'm prepared to give it a go, I just don't really see that it has legs.

Looks cheap and cheesy to me. I'll give it a go but I predict I'll be done by three episodes.
