I quite enjoyed the Taken pilot. Rattled along at a fair pace, lots of action. The characters were a bit cut and paste, but it's early days.
I did see an executive producer credit from Luc Besson, not always an indicator of quality, but nice to see.

I too was surprised that it was set in present-day rather than in the past to tie in properly with the movies. I guess it's a budget issue?

Also, is it just me or does Jennifer Beals bathe daily in a Lazarus Pit as she seems to look younger (and hotter) every time I see her pop up in a new show. No way that lady looks 54!

Time After Time started off quite well, despite H.G. Wells looking like a teenager most of the time & his 1893 friends talking about 'dating', but soon had me shouting at the TV when the usual 'suspense' tropes kicked in;

"Oh, I've knocked the homicidal bad guy (possibly) unconscious. Shall I hit him again, finish the job? Tie him up? Nah, I'll just tiptoe around & hope he doesn't wake up..." FFS!

& as ever with a time travel show, so many things could have been solved BECAUSE YOU HAVE A TIME MACHINE. (their excuse for not using it didn't get mentioned until near the end of the 80 minute pilot & was incredibly weak - apparently it's OK to go forward 3 days to show your new lady friend that time travel works, but you can't go back 3 days to stop a serial killer because it might destroy the fabric of time? **** off!). Bah.

The female lead was very cute though.

I'm a sucker for time-travel shows & Time after Time looks ok but the abysmal ratings for the opener screams "Cancellation!" so I'm not even going to bother as you just know this will never have a satisfying conclusion.

I've already been burned this season with the entertaining "Timeless" which ended on a cliffhanger & will probably never come back to conclude anything...

Episode 2 of Taken was hilariously bad.

It was pretty woeful, I'm going to give it a couple more episodes but it just didn't hold my interest this week.

Taken was another one I could only manage just over 1 episode of, gave up after around 15 mins of the second episode so it's joined APB in the bin

Another time travel new series, but definitely not serious, we thought Making History was quite funny and a promising start

Great news regarding the Good Fight. On a similar note, Legion got a second season too.

2 eps into lethal weapon on itv and really enjoying it. Didn't expect them to have the budget to keep having big things happen

Is that Dimension 404 supposed to be serious or a bit of a laugh? I couldn't quite tell from the trailer!

I watched the pilot and I honestly wasn't sure if I'd missed an episode as the villain seemed to take to 21st century life almost immediately which sort of ruined the whole premise for me. Not one I think I'll bother with!

Brockmire was highly entertaining. Can't really go wrong with those two leads.

Imaginary Mary was essentially Drop Dead Fred with a CGI character instead of Rik Mayall. Hope whoever came up with it didn't get any kudos for having an original idea. It was watchable enough, but I presume the CGI thing is expensive to produce & give it six episodes before it's dropped.

Gave up on Shots Fired about 20 minutes in. Hated all the characters & got tired of being constantly hit over the head with messages about racism. Not for me.
