Autumn this year sometime then, according to an Amazon email. I thought they were aiming for next spring originally, so ahead of the game then.

An interesting interview with Andy Wilman about the show, in particular the bit about what they can and can't do for fear of BBC lawyers is quite amusing.

Thanks for posting ac - interesting interview indeed; first time I've seen Wilman interviewed (can see why he and Clarkson get on so well) and he's probably the most interesting of the four to hear talk about the production and background to the new show at this stage. A little surprised to hear him quite down on 4K, and it not being suited for this type of programme given the outstanding scenery and camerawork we saw on Top Gear, which would seem ideal for 4K I'd think. Maybe it's just been too much of a pain for him to praise it

I hope he's over-exaggerating the BBC legal issues, otherwise the new show could be quite seriously (and stupidly) restricted before it even gets going.

He's not saying that 4K wouldn't look great for their high quality photography, he's saying their style of filming (where the cameras are pretty much always rolling) doesn't suit the costs involved in doing that in 4K.

The cost of that extra resolution works well with something tightly planned like a drama but not something freewheeling like GT.

Yay.... Looks Gorgeously put together from just a tiny snippet.
That interview recently about the demanding 4K we just know visually this should be a treat.
Not that I have a 4K TV set yet, but anyway...................

i wonder what the proportion of legal/illegal viewings will be? with prime being somewhat niche, i'd expect the vast majority of people who watch it will do so illegally.

Unless they do a super deal I think you will be right, I will not be spending £70 on Prime to watch this.

Conversely, I've been a Prime member for years but won't be watching this. Cars are boring.
