[Netflix] Making a Murderer

This is one of the most gripping things I've ever seen. I can't believe what I'm watching is true.
You may be wondering how they could stretch this out over 10 hours of episodes; the answer is, very well. It's not boring for a second and pure binge-watching material.

I've watched the first 6 episodes today. Please don't tell me how it ends.
Be warned, it will make you SEVERELY angry and has some stuff that's very hard to watch on an emotional level.

The first episode is mostly dealing with the background of everything, letting you know the players and what Steven Avery went through. After that, the rest of the episodes deal with the events unfolding. Netflix have made the first episode available on Youtube: https://youtu.be/34M2zdLc-2U

Watched the first episode earlier - my wife loves this kind of thing - so will probably be binging on the rest over christmas.

Definitely intriguing - feels a bit like a TV version of Serial.

The first episode barely scratches the surface of what happens.

Looking forward to watching this during the week.

If you like this kind of stuff can thoroughly recommend The HBO documentary The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.

It was both thrilling and jaw dropping.

Cheers for the recommendation... at episode 4. This is truly astonishing and upsetting.

I'm really really hoping some 'cousin Vinny' character turns up to school these asshole yokel cops real soon. They are proper moronic evil ************.

That poor kid Brendan

Yup on all Netflix’s we watched it on UK.

This is amazing, fascinating, terrifying and heartbreaking.

Basically don’t visit Manitowoc County, Wisconsin... ever!

Some thoughts, don’t read unless you’ve watched all 10 episodes...

If you liked this I would recommend "An Innocent Man" by John Grisham, it's a true story but written well. Basically how you can send people to death row and prison for a long time based on nothing. Bit of a spoiler (for the book) and based on the comment above...

But a really interesting read into the small town justice system.

I'm trying to skim this thread without spoiling anything for myself, and therefore haven't read much, so apologies if this is answered above.

How grim is this? The little I've read makes it sound fascinating but not sure if it'll be something we can watch together!

It's not gory or full of nasty things, it's more the emotional ringer it puts you through. There are details of the murder, but the real draw is just the story of what happens and how unbelievable it all is.

Finished it now

Only one episode in, but already it reminds me of The West Memphis 3 case, and also the Thin Blue Line documentary.

Both have documentaries on Netflix that are essential viewing also.

Okay, thanks. I tried to relay this to my wife but she's not convinced it won't creep her out so looks like I'll be watching this on my own at some point.

The scariest/creepiest thing in it are the lying, disgusting police department.

Up to episode 5 now. I don't know how to describe this level of incompetence combined with corruption.

Have to feel sorry for his nephew. Borderline retarded, railroaded by the cops and screwed over by his idiot lawyer who seems to be more interested in the free publicity of the case than actually talking to his client or providing any effective counsel.

Just starting episode 7 and although I literally have no idea how this all will end, the two defence lawyers deserve the upmost credit for how they tackled the case (at least thus far) - it takes some kind of intelligence to turn around such a cast-iron nailed on case. He certainly hired two canny fellas.
