Picking mine up at lunchtime (MT) - excited. Official Plex client is due any minute, but there's also a really nice looking 3rd party one called Simple X.

That Steelseries Nimbus does look nice.

Mine arrived today too. Love it. The only thing that annoys me, is you can't use your iPhone to enter log-ins and passwords, so everything takes a damn long time using the controller!

That seems a very un-Apple like oversight

I'd expect a fix?

I think you can use any bluetooth keyboard though if you have one?

They made a big deal about that in this review

I'd really love to jump back on the apple TV bandwagon but other than having a fiddle to get HBO Now and easier access to the Apple Music library there's nothing my Xbox One doesn't do for me apart from using airplay.

I'll probably cave when it's <£100. Those fancy screensavers look the nuts!

Since hitting middle-age I've become more frugal and the energy drain of watching Netflix every night on the PS3 was enough for me to buy one for that alone. This thing uses next to no power. It's black magic.

As an update, you can't use any bluetooth keyboard yet, nor can I connect my Mac to it, nor is the remote app working, so for now, you can't enter passwords etc any other way

Takes me about 20 minutes to get an app set up. Apple, you done gone and ****** it up

It's not exactly intuitive either. It's certainly not typical Apple. Having to key your email and password in takes longer than it would using a keyboard, and there is no real reason they can't support either your iPhone or a bluetooth keyboard - it's almost as if they are shepherding you into having to use the controller. Searching on the app store is also a major ball-ache.

Don't get me wrong, that aside, I love it, and I say that as someone who didn't really 'get' the previous device.

Yikes, they really screwed that one up. I'd expect a tvOS update pretty quick though. I set it up last night but the app store was running incredibly slow (guess it was getting hammered) and Plex didn't make it out of review yet so I didn't spend a lot of time on it.

That location based trailer app is nice - can see that getting a lot of use for deciding what to go and see at the cinema. I generally know what they are but the wife is clueless

No trailers here in the UK either, for some reason.

Ah yes, I forgot about that - never been available on iOS either. You can get it from the US App store, not sure if the location features will work, but they may do!

I've got a new Apple TV to replace my 3rd gen one and am disappointed to find you can't download purchased TV shows to view offline. You have to either stream them (which on my crappy internet connection is a real pain) or Airplay them from another device, which means they play at lower res.

Seems a stupid omission, given all the storage they've put on the thing.

I also saw an app on there that allows playback of many different types of files from a NAS via SMB and DLNA, decoding them from software alone. Looks very rudimental but things are moving quickly. I have high hopes that this will be a decent streamer sooner rather than later.

...there's also this

Love it.

A fork of Kodi is in development and should be in the App Store soon:

Now that would be a huge addition. I thought Kodi had already ruled that out.

I'll buy one of these as soon as Kodi is available with .iso support. In fairness I'll probably buy one pretty soon anyway but that would make it for me. I've been archiving my DVDs off and running Kodi on a Mac mini but this would be even more convenient, and if somehow the global search function could pick up the Kodi contents I'd be stupidly happy.
