Muse

New single 'Psycho' from Muse was released on Youtube earlier:

*NSFW* some swears beware!

New album called 'Drones' available from 8 June.

Always got time for these boys but this single has left me cold on first listen. Maybe it's a grower but for them it's incredibly repetitive and quite simplistic and almost like a spiritual successor to Super Massive Black Hole.

Muse - Drones

I really like it, because of its raw power and the fact it's practically devoid of the pomp that plagued the last two albums. All the swears are uncharacteristically Muse, easily the most aggressive track from them in a decade or more.

The main riff is recycled from an improv typically played as the live outro to Stockholm Syndrome. Interesting to see them take one of those elements into the studio years after conception.

Ah, I knew that riff sounded familiar.

It's a little too by-the-numbers for me. I was really expecting some virtuoso guitar work considering the hype about it being a much more rockier sound to the new stuff. Perhaps the rest of the album is but this song is up there with Uprising for me- it's an okay song but not one I'm itching to see them play live.

Definetly do it Bravoman, infact they're playing small venues in the next few weeks which I would imagine would be fantastic.

They were sold out less than a minute after they went on sale. Why oh why they don't to a ballot type ticket sale - this would be much fairer rather than relying on how quickly people can refresh a screen or the type of their browser/connection

Strangely enough, some years ago I didn't like this band but seen them twice now and love them, one of the best live bands I've seen.

Loving the new song.

The new one is decent enough without ever getting particularly exciting.

Like it - I love those improv bits at the end of live versions of some tracks so happy they've turned some into an actual track. Need heavier Muse back so good to hear.

Glad to have a heavier, rockier Muse back after the Operatics we've endured the last couple of albums. Had a chuckle with comments on other forums mentioning they are just ripping off Royal Blood's "sound".

YES!!, Reapers is more like it. I'm a sucker for a bit of widdly-widdly guitar noodling.

Sounds better than the last couple of albums worth, but not blown away by it. They didn't need to start experimenting with orchestra's and all that, he used to make the guitar sound like a bit of an over the top orchestral instrument which really suited them.

Great live band, seen them four times.

Psycho isn't a single though. Both songs have been released on iTunes as part of the album, it's like it's being drip fed to us.

The very first line of this thread says Psycho is their new single! That's what I was going off.

Apologies, I didn't mean to come across as pedantic.

I think we all thought it was a single at first, but Dead Inside has been released in the exact same manner.
