Blimey, £30! How do they work that out?! It's currently 49.99 with the 4k stick so that'makes the device cheaper than the remote, and I only paid £35 for it all on prime day!

Does the older style non 4k stick remote work with the 4k stick? I have I've of those laying around and could use that and keep using the 4k remote with the shield

It's only giving me £6 off now. How did you get that code? Was it a general code?

Stevie G - if HDMI CEC was enabled on the Fire TV stick you might be able to navigate the menus with your TV remote so long as it's enabled on the TV, worth a try anyway.

On another note I bought the new remote for £14.99 for my 2nd generation Fire TV stick when it was on offer, works very well and it's nice to just be able to use the one remote if I want to watch Prime or Netflix. The buttons are all a bit closer together to fit everything on though.

Ah, ok, thanks, I'll have a look at that. It's on a small Samsung smart TV so might work with the Samsung remote. It's only a 21" telly for the kitchen so I'm reluctant to spend too much unnecessarily!

Try speaking to Amazon if you cannot find one and you bought it from them, they certainly offered me a free replacement refurb box out of warranty. They never asked for the other one back either, so I ended up with a spare box (but only one remote)

I phrased it in a "i know its out of warranty but do you do repairs?" sort of thing

Thanks for the advice. I did an online chat and they've credited me £29.99 so I could buy a replacement, should be here tomorrow

I've always found their customer service to be amazingly good. I bought a digibox as a gift for someone, it broke, they immediately sent another one and told them to send the original back at their leisure. I was considering buying the same thing from ebay, but then no doubt i'd be trying to get someone to honour a warranty and them be without a box.

I told them the other week that the final episode of Ken Burns Baseball had a chunk missing and I can't believe it was anything other than an error when it was put on but I'd speculate i'm one of only two people in the country that would

a. Pay £4 a month to watch it
b. Have seen it before so would notice (it doesn't cut out at a random point, credits and everything but the bit about Boston winning the World Series is missing)

The are always contacting me with an update, getting it sorted. Haven't the heart to tell them I cancelled my sub to the channel.

I got a remote off eBay for about 8 quid, possibly less, and it paired by just holding down one of buttons for about 30 seconds,

It’s not a voice remote but it works fine
