I got the latest Amazon Fire TV Box last week and it's a great piece of kit. Installed Firestarter and Kodi and it seems a more straightforward, Pii2 / Openelec equal. I'll be sticking with my Pii2 in my main set up because of Harmony support, but for additional rooms the Amazon devices are brilliant.

Got a couple of Fire sticks for Christmas pressies.

Does anyone know if I can sign in with my Amazon account, sideload some android apps and sign out ready for someone else to use with their own account?

Using my original Amazon Fire box, I still get a slightly stuttery picture, it just happens occasionally like a couple of frames were dropped. Anyone else get this? I've altered the settings between Auto and 50hz but to no avail.

cheers

Apparently the Fire TV does not support 24p which may cause stutter.

Looks like there is a hack for box version? http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=250094

Live illegitimate streams tend to be

Poor quality
Patchy if it works or not with lots of buffering
Gone in a very short period of time.

Guys if I have offline Amazon video content downloaded on my phone / tablet, is there a way that I can "cast" these onto a TV? Is there a dedicated app or device (i.e. Amazon Fire Stick) that can do this? Cheers.

I think you can do it with a fire stick and one of their tablets

Why bother with a fire stick though when you can just stream it directly on the stick?

Anyone having jerky/stuttering problems on BBC iplayer when playing HD? Seems to happen on all shows. SD is fine.

I had to resort to using the iplayer addon in Kodi which run great.

No problems with other apps.

Yup me too, SD is fine, but when you set quality to auto is goes into jerkotron mode.

Works ok with all other streaming services.

Not just me then. Has it always been like that? I tend to use iplayer on my TV but was having problem connecting to the Super Bowl show yesterday so tried the stick instead.

Fire OS5, this is what the Fire TV 2 runs. Some apps like Twitch wouldn't update to the new version because it needed the new OS. There are layout changes to the hinge screen as well. Also it has Alexa integration but not sure if that is available in the UK.
